I spent part of the afternoon messing around with Purity Ring 's 'Obedear' - here's the outcome.
Free remix of Purity Ring's "Obedear" anyone? Yeah, I thought so. The latest installment of what I'm sure will be a slew of other remixes of the track comes from an upcoming producer by the name of Beauchamp.
On September 25th, Rhode Island noise-rock duo Lightning Bolt will release a rarities collection entitled Oblivion Hunter via Load Records. The seven-track effort collects "lost" cuts recorded in 2008 and will be available digitally and on 123 vinyl. The five-minute opener "King Candy" is pure, overwhelming dissonance, manically combining heavy drums, distorted vocals, and heaps of fuzz that detonate with the power of a noise-rock A-bomb. If 2Pac had lived long enough to necessitate a career reinvention in this age of populist rap music, I wonder which musical direction he would have taken? Chip Ivory, aka Ryan Driscoll, gives us a window into that parallel universe with this left field mash up of the rapper's seminal hit 'Dear Momma' with electronic duo Purity Ring's 'Obedear'.
