The mailbox is still a mess, so my plan today was to bring out the broom and start sweeping. But my back is killing me and I've spent the first 30 minutes at work lying on the floor (far less painful than walking, standing or even sitting in a chair). So I guess the only right thing to do is to get some work done and then head home. Or simply wait for the damn painkillers to start working!
As we've mentioned a few times earlier this year, 2010 is turning out to be an amazing series of months for EP releases from both new and previously featured artists. This time around, attention is once again focused in on Jacksonville, Florida based musicians John Hashtak (guitar, vocals), Tara Golden (vocals), Reed Clendenen (bass, vocals) and Jim Singleton (drums, synth) who were first

As always the world has been really busy, while I was away on holiday. Would be much appreciated if the world took a timely break every now and then as well, as it would make catching up so much easier. Instead of leaving me when the unpleasant feeling that there are lots and lots of things I'm going to miss, because I cannot read every mail, tweet, blog update etc. of the past two weeks. I know I post exactly the same story of whining every year, but I just can't help myself. However I will from this moment on [...]

I Needed You - Purplespace I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer - The Cardigans Dollhouse - Needs I missed reviewing the previous two episodes of Dollhouse, which is unfortunate because they were the only two so far that really deserved a lot of attention. Compared to what came before, they were better, more interesting, and suggestive that this thing might actually be going somewhere. The Man on the Street was legitimately great, [...]
"Happy Birthday, Dear MML, Happy Birthday to Youuuuuu!"Since we recently missed our three year anniversary here at MML (by a few months or so) and failed to think of a witty subject line or source a picture that remotely brought to mind the topic at hand, we found ourselves saddled with a Google-tastic photo of birthday candles and an introduction that deserves no further explanation. Over the

Kaleidoscope - Purplespace When I Signed Your Yearbook - Purplespace I wrote about Purplespace a few months ago . At that point I had heard only a couple songs off A Tiny Little Spark ( eMusic ) but was quite excited. Since then I picked up a copy and that initial enthusiasm has been well borne out. I described them before as "Vaguely shoegaze, just a bit electronic, gauzy dreampop - this is music that makes you want to stare at the stars..." And [...]
In order to avoid any confusion that might result from reading the subject line for today's feature, we need to explain that this is not an attempt to peddle any sort of colour-themed social networking community. What we have instead is an incredible listen in the form of an ongoing side-project from the Jacksonville, Florida trio Starring Me (Starring Me MySpace) who we first presented in
Perhaps some of you remember that I opted not to post any "best of 2008" lists. As I wrote back then, it had lots to do with me not liking the "nature" of those lists, as they are so definitive. But in all honesty it was equally caused by the (in my opinion) lack of great album releases in 2008. Well a few outstanding ones aside that was. Therefore it's really encouraging that 2009 has already given us a few fantastic releases. Dear John by Loney, Dear arrived in [...]
Too tired to write anything, but this brand new track by US shoegaze/electronica combo Purplespace is, just like everything else the band has recorded, absolutely wonderful. You probably remember the band by this The Psychedelic Furs cover they recorded a couple of years ago. + Kaleidoscope + Pretty in Pink (The Psychedelic Furs cover)

US shoegazers Purplespace are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to the 2006 debut Broken Bells . The band hopes to have it finished and released early this year, but has already posted two of the album tracks as free downloads . Both songs successfully mix the dreampop/shoegaze sound with various electronic elements, and thus bode really well for the forthcoming release. + It Never Happened + Your Cursive

As a small tribute US electronica/shoegaze band Purplespace has recorded two really nice versions of The Psychedelic Furs classic Pretty in Pink . At first the two versions sounded very much alike, but after a few listen it became pretty clear that the first one takes a shoegaze approach, while the second one is a bit more electronica inspired (especially in the opening seconds it's rather easy to spot the difference). The National has also recorded a really fine version of the song, which can be found here [...]
