[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] I'm a huge fan of everything the whole Boom Clap Bachelors (BCB, Non Plus, Quadron, Owusu & Hannibal, Parallel Dance Ensemble, IOU) camp does. This is a dope song/video with Robin Hannibal on production, Bobbi Soxx & Quadron's CoCo Solid on vocals/lyrics.

Quadron - "Buster Keaton" They used to call this sort of thing "sophisti-pop" , right? Immaculate, subtly synthetic versions of classic soul, with a bit of ironic distance contrasted with polite earnestness. "Buster Keaton" is a hard song to pin down - from moment to moment, the band is referring to totally different eras of R&B and pop, and though the basic structure and melody of the piece scans normally, it has an oddly vertiginous quality. I'm especially fond of the way the vocals and the horns in the chorus seem to swing like pendulums just [...]

Just wait for the chorus and you'll quickly see "Slippin" is well worth you're time. Copenhagen, Denmark duo Quadron have lit a fresh fire under the Motown sound. Classic pop and soul instrumentals from musician/producer Robin Hannibal and 21-year-old Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj's deep and powerful set of pipes make for an irresistible pairing. Just sit back and let the grooves fill your room. Quadron - "Slippin" (from Quadron )
[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] So you like Amy/Adele/Corinne/Feist/ etc.? Try your ass some Quadron . Plug Research sent over their album last week and I haven't stopped playing it. These are the visuals for their joint " Pressure ". Partake!

Much buzzed about Danish duo Quadron (singer Coco and musician/ producer Robin Hannibal ) execute the simplistic delectation of old-school girl group pop to levels of sublime near-flawlessness on their new single "Pressure". From it's perky, handclaps-horns-and-piano arrangement sending your toes into a tapping frenzy, to the doe-eyed tenderness encased in Coco's vocal as she tries her best to get under her lover's skin with little success, the sunny/ sad ditty twinkles with the irresistible contagiousness of a long-lost Supremes number or an early-era Mariah Carey single (you know, back before the "Obsessed"-diva [...]

Click here to view the embedded video. Yesterday I talked about Quadron , the Danish duo specializing in dreamy, retrosexual Soul. I gathered that you guys rather liked what Quadron had to offer, so now I want to share with you the music video for one of my favorite tracks off their self-titled debut long player, which will be released on March 23rd via Plug Research ; it's available on iTunes now. You can watch "Pressure" above. The clip was directed by Daniel Kragh-Jacobsen and focuses on [...]

Danish band Quadron specialise in soulful silky-pop with an emphasis on the soul and pop. They are Robin and Coco and if you dig Lykke Li's brand of Scanadavian pop you may very well dig these guys too. Producer Robin Hannibal was worked with Aloe Blacc, Buraka Som Sistema and Omas Keith of Sa-Ra Creative Partners while 21 year-old Coco has sang for the producer collective Boom Clap Bachelors of which Hannibal is part of. Their recent self-titled record was released in Europe last year and it's getting a [...]

There's something... something to be said about the sense of recognition and knowing you sometimes experience when listening to a song for the first time. While rock critics and music bloggers laud and yearn for the unknown, the innovative and cutting edge, the sense of instant relate-ability and reliability is often taken for granted, or worse yet, mistaken for convention and derivation. Just wanted to plant that little seed in your brain before introducing you to this sweet, sweet winter gem. With bass lines reminiscent of those reinforcing tracks sung by a Knowles sister and a voice delicate enough to [...]

[mp3] Quadron: "Average Fruit" KCRW has been pushing the Danish duo Quadron hard , and for good reason. Quadron formed when producer Robin met 16 year old vocalist Coco. While comparisons are often an easy way out for writers, it's Friday afternoon, and we're taking it. Quadron land somewhere between the glitchy-dub-style production of JJ, the Daptone soul sound, and the accessibility of Adele. Coco's voice is clean and soulful, while the production-style gives Quadron's self-titled debut (March 23, Plug Research) the grittiness that it needs to be, well, cool. [...]

Something about that 12-hour-old cup of microwaved coffee has given me the worst headache. Luckily, aside from jabbing knife thrusts, my brain is also being subjected to the easy-going frequencies of progressive Danish duo, Quadron . Starting off with a carrying bass line similar to your favorite jam from two years ago (see if you can guess it...), "Average Fruit" is the floating first single from their upcoming self-titled debut album, which mish-mashes live instrumentation and brooding tones that make for a perfectly subtle substitute for Tylenol®. Accompanying the alleviation, the pleasant evanescence [...]

Quadron - Average Fruit Quadron from Denmark will release their self-titled album on March 23rd via PlugResearch, "Average Fruit" is from the upcoming album. Bio: Quadron is a child that's been made by Coco and Robin. Both were part of the soul collective "Boom Clap Bachelors" who in early 2008 secured much respect and success with their debut "Kort Før Dine Læber". Here they began their collaboration, and Robin fell for Coco's beautiful voice and ability to improvise with playful ease. Even though Coco is only [...]
Be on the lookout for this new group released on the Plug Research label. Quadron from Copenhagen falls along the same audio lines as Little Dragon, but don't call them cheap imitations. They have a unique sound of their own and have been championed by the likes of James Murphy, Giles Peterson, and even Pharrell Williams. Take a listen and be on the look out for their self titled debut in March 2010. Quadron - Average Fruit Download audio file (AverageFruit.mp3) [...]
Danish duo Quadron provide a soulful mix of downtempo beats with beautiful arrangements and orchestrations. Our intrepid DJ Anthony Valadez got his hands on an early copy and started slipping it into the mix here at KCRW. Soon enough, just about every DJ here got behind it. Thanks to Anthony, a U.S. release of their debut is coming soon. Today's Top Tune is from the self-titled release, and is called "Average Fruit.?
