I dig QOTSA frontman Josh Homme. I don't much dig this new album, but I do dig these Vestal Watches that are associated with the band and this contest. So, the sponsor of this contest is giving away... One Lucky Winner gets: • 1 Vestal Elite Watch • 1 Signed Queens of the Stone Age Poster • 1 Queens of the Stone Age Era Vulgaris CD Here is [...]

Thanks to my man Dusty , who posted this Queens of the Stone Age cover of Billy Idol's White Wedding that apparently comes on the Best Buy version of Era Vulgaris . This falls in the I-like-the-cover-better-than-t he-original category. Although, it could be because of my immense man-crush on Josh Homme. If you read this story on Homme and aren't convinced of his coolness, then I don't know what to say. Some samples: With a little prodding, Homme (rhymes with "mommy") will admit [...]

Man there are some good artists coming to London in the future. Queens Of The Stone Age are confirmed now and I already told you about Bloc Party, White Stripes, Rufus Wainwright, and Tegan & Sara . There`s many more but these are the ones I will be going to. For those of you who don`t live in Ontario , I have an cover of [...]

image taken from here Sorry about the lack of posting lately, the Black Dog has been seriously on my ass and I have been under. I woke up the other day and realized it was summer, wtf... My whole life is passing me by and I sometimes wonder why I am even still alive. There is no need though for you to miss out on some summer tunes. Just a word of advice, don't ever ever take the good things you have (a job, a significant other, money, a [...]
I've just returned from California, where I checked out San Francisco alternative radio station Live 105 's annual all-dayer, BFD, which takes place at Shoreline Amphitheatre, on a hilltop overlooking NASA's Ames Research Center . Queens of the stoneage - Friday, July 6th The festival is just around the bend now, and boy we are looking forward to it. One of the most disapointing concerts I've witnessed on the orange stage ever, was QOTSA a couple of years ago. When they played a gig in Vega last year, the band stll remember how horrible their performance was. They excused the poor performance, and promissed that they would take revenge this year. I'm pretty sure that this years concert will be unforgettable. QOTSA - Littlesister [mp3] [...]

I'm not sure how many Queens of the Stone Age fans we have among our reader-base but I'm unashamed to admit that I've been paying close attention to them for the past five years. As such, I noticed a trend that continues on the upcoming album Era Vulgaris . Every single QOTSA studio release has at least one track that they've yoinked from a prior Desert Sessions release. The Desert Sessions are basically jam sessions of a sort where Homme and [...]

In eager anticipation of Tuesday's release of Era Vulgaris , here's a taste of what Queens of the Stone Age have been brewing. The music tools among you will remember that "Make It Wit Chu" actually first surfaced as part of the Desert Sessions 9 & 10 compilation. Well, now it's had the full workup and sounds even better. The rest of QOTSA's new disc is awesome as well, being a lot more like the first two albums. Listening sort of [...]

Must say I admire the way Josh Homme and Co. play Christian Brothers on their latest EP. I was expecting a more uptempo version. But I`m glad they started off acoustic.....it makes for a great build up near the end...CN Queens Of The Stone Age - Christian Brothers
you may or may not know, or care for that matter, but i am a technology geek. i visit engadget, gizmodo, boy genius report, phone scoop, etc more often than i care to admit. gadgets are my second addiction and they could be my first if i could actually afford them. i am forced to live vicariously through the brief descriptions and unboxings that grace their pages. sigh! as it turns out not all hope is lost in my quest to get my hands on the latest and greatest. somehow through the vastness of [...]
Note: this post was originally intended for Monday, but with the holiday and all the BBQs I had to attend, I wound up not having time to post it. So enjoy it now instead. A normal Tuesday post is also on the way! Today's edition of C&C chronicles the new album by my fictional good friend and one of my perennial favorite musicians Mr. Josh Homme and his primary band Queens of the Stone Age. June 12th is the street date for "Era Vulgaris," which serves as the follow-up to 2005's "Lullabies to Paralyze." [...]

I guess most of you blog hoppin' folks have these songs on four different I-pods already, but I've missed a few things that have been going on in music. So if you've been out of the loop as well and want to catch up on what the über cool in-crowd is talking about music-wise: Kanye West has a new video for "Can't Tell Me Nothing" from his new album Graduation : [...]

Een paar gelekte nummers van QOTSA, Editors en The Chemical Brothers. Die van QOTSA roelt zwaar, die van Editors klinkt Editors (echt waar!) en die van The Chemical Brothers is verrassend goed. QOTSA - Run Pig Run Editors - Bones Editors - The Weight Of The World The Chemical Brothers - The Pills Won't Help You Know (ft. Midlake)

When we first heard Make It Wit Chu a few months ago (or was it even longer ago?), it was safe to say it wasn't your average Queens song. It's slow, almost bluesy flow was the polar opposite of what we've come to expect from from QOTSA. In the context of Era Vulgaris, it seems even odder. Sandwiched between 'Battery Acid' and '3's & 7's', arguably two of the album's hardest tracks, 'Make It' can't help but draw attention to itself. Of course, that would only be a problem if it were a [...]
I'll admit it; on Friday I may have been a little overzealous with the new Smashing Pumpkins track.I was just shocked so by its un-suckiness that I gave it more credit than it deserved. It's a good track, and it has gotten me excited for Zeitgeist , but it's just not as good as some are making it out to be. So, as an apology, here's a track that's every bit as good it's been made out to be: 'Sick Sick Sick' from Queen Of The Stone Age's upcoming Era Vulgaris. It's a straight-forward rocker, the kind [...]
