Now awaiting the postman’s knock in anticipation of my “Random Access Memories” delivery (for both vinyl and CD copies), Berlin’s Theatre Of Delays drops us a note in regards to his speedy ‘Doin’ It Right’ remix (from Daft Punk) which has more thought and energy thrown into it than nine lanes of 100 metre runners who are waiting to start their next race. Made from a place between time and space, Theatre Of Delays gives “The Robots” a slight nudge that falls into Grade A, masterpiece territory. “Since Daft Punk revealed to [...]

Mother's day is the time to remind where we are coming from. Time to celebrate and honor your mother by saying "thank you, mum" and giving her a hug or at least a phone call. In most of the world's countries today is mother's day (the second Sunday of May). Besides calling your mother or The post The 10 Best Songs for Mother's Day appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
New on Mostly-Retro, a review of the amazing Blade Runner soundtrack vinyl re-issue , and a look at an INCREDIBLY stupid movie on Netflix . And with that out the way, I now present the latest in my continuing efforts to share the dumbest music possible: Collective Soul - Shine (Souza Mix) Queen - We Will Rock You (Bass Kicks Micks) The Eagles - Heartache Tonight (Hell Freezes Over Mix) Joan Jett [...]

Every day since we decided to post our top 10 favorite songs of ALL TIME, I have kept a piece of paper with me and throughout the day I would write down a song that came to mind. Erasing my whole “pop-punk” phase (Taking Back Sunday would probably be the only thing on my list), this assignment was pretty easy. Yes, you are probably amazed that my list isn’t a combination of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a dash of Beyonce, but honestly those artists would have their own top 10 lists. I absolutely hate the question of "What is [...]

Nottingham/Derby based quintet The Harmonics describe themselves as 'An exuberant and energetic band that blend shiny indie-pop sensibilities with a guitar driven rock aesthetic that wont be ignored'. Brave words indeeed, so Ralph took a look at their debut EP 'Shelley' to see if they live up to expectations prior to them launching their Summer mini-tour. The Harmonics are George Ramplin [...]

Janelle Monáe just released the video for "Q.U.E.E.N." from her upcoming album, The Electric Lady. The song and futuristic video feature Erykah Badu - about four minutes in... Buy Mp3 @ Amazon Janelle Monáe Official Site

When two big names in music get together to do a collaboration, there's a pretty solid chance it's going to be good. When those two names are Janelle Monáe and Erykah Badu , you can feel pretty confident you're gonna have a jam on your hand. And in this case, that jam is titled, "Q.U.E.E.N", and it's off Monáe's upcoming album The Electric Lady , due out this fall via Atlantic Records. The track has a funky sound with some biting lyrics, which makes it perfect to get you through [...]
Janelle Monae 's video for "Q.U.E.E.N." is actually the best. It begins in a frozen bright-white dystopia of an art gallery featuring Erykah Badu as "Badoula Oblongata" and a ceramic skull who plays vinyl with a single gold fang - then "Q.U.E.E.N." drops with all its Prince-esque guitar heat, and in come the zombies on guitar, the 602s hotties and the standard poodle who just got its hair did. It's a pop-art marvel as well as an overt fuck-you to all those shade-throwers out there: Monáe chair-twerks, tossing her jacket's fringe as she sings "They call us dirty cause we [...]

If you haven't heard of this oddly punctuated band yet, you're either someone who doesn't listen to the radio/watch TV or you are oblivious. Fun.'s music has been featured in two super bowl commercials in the last two years... it's hard to miss these guys. Yet, the true calamity in all of this is the neglect of their first album, Aim and Ignite . Largely written as a Format project, Fun's debut is a dazzling display of progressive pop... I'm not sure it's rock. But, it's definitely progressive, so I'm calling it progressive pop (think [...]
A couple of weeks ago the funky-hip-hop-soul sister Janelle Monáe dropped the first cut from her new album The Electric Lady , and today she's given us the futuristically retro video for "Q.U.E.E.N." ft. Erykah Badu . Live exhibits in a museum, as soon as someone puts on a white piece of wax everyone comes to life, and a funky-jazz party kicks off, including a predictably-off-the-wall Erykah Badu. The Electric Lady will [...]
Janelle Monáe drops some stellar visuals for her funky, strange, and eccentric new single, "Q.U.E.E.N.," which has me absolutely psyched to hear her new full-length when it drops. Enjoy!

It’s been a while since Scott Mou popped up on my musical radar. Though he's been working under the name for some time, this is the first time Queens has seen a proper release of material. Mou last entered the musical consciousness partnered with Noah Lennox for a few scant releases as the bygone band JANE, who's ambient noise templates and crumpled beats might share a volume knob adjustment with Queens but thematically they're a far cry from the emotional fragility of End Times . Built on a palette of acoustic plucks, hiss, drone and a plaintive vocal [...]

I can't tell you how happy I am to have this joint So Soft. Nafis used to have it on his tumblr, I had it bookmarked n everything. It's such a big jam, like most of the cuts on this unreleased tape. What's good though? Toss the Big Baby a couple bucks so he can get his Debut album mix n mastered.

Monáe’s ‘The ArchAndroid’ was one of the best albums of 2010, so it’s been a long wait for fans as new material has been promised on numerous occasions (Fun.’s We Are Young hardly counts). Now the moment has arrived, with this new track in collaboration with Erykah Badu released as the lead single from forthcoming album ‘The Electric Lady’. Q.U.E.E.N is a confusing track at first, with its unpredictable shifts and kaleidoscope of musical genres. Prince-esque funk [...]
The concept of the covers record is, in itself, an inherently disorienting experience as once cherished songs are heaved, hoed and traditionally hauled out of the cozy comfort zone that familiarity so often incurs within the musical world. Though to hear Buzz Osborne's sludge mongers the Melvins shred their cruddy way through a couple minutes of Black Betty which sound as though the sonic equivalent to the exhumed entrails of Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter himself dusted down and swung overhead to exude a blackened, gritty blend of fetid blood and granular dirt, is positively dizzying as the Afro-American [...]
ayothewuisback : Mobb Deep - Shook Ones II From The Infamous (1995) Love this classic Mobb Deep banger. The instrumental version is one of my go to records to scratch to. Beat is bananas and leads the DJ in so many different directions.
