World Party: Is It Like Today? [ purchase ] Eliza Gilkyson: Is It Like Today? [ purchase ] As someone who worked in the service industries through much of the ubiquitous Top 40 radio nineties, I must have had this song buried in my brain somewhere, but it was Eliza Gilkyson's 2005 pensive folkcover that sent me to the stacks to rediscover it, and finally listen to the lyrics. Turns out the [...]
Actually, i hate writing about music. Frequent visitors of this blog, if there are any, have probably noticed that. I most of the time just shoo people to the mp3-links instead of them reading the pointless texts i produce. Then again, just mp3-link with nothing else, is not the way to have a blog either. So, i'm having a difficult situation here. I want to keep this blog up and kickin', but the idea that i should be writing a bunch of nonsense about one of my favorite bands, kind of annoys me. Then i just don't feel like starting to write again. [...]
Dear internet, What is the difference between via and h/t? Or are they interchangeable.

REMEMBER! MP3s ARE FOR SAMPLING ONLY! IF YOU LIKE THE MUSIK THEN BUY IT! OH yeah, it's 4/20. Weed? Not for me but some people like it so here is the best marijuana song: Burn One Down - Ben Harper So, you guys need, need, NEED to see this video now. It's amazing. It's so amazing that I will watch again just because I told you guys to. ::watches video. dies laughing:: Hilarious. I must warn you. Not for the faint of [...]
Rainn Wilson, the actor from NBC's The Office , is spearheading a new website known as Soul Pancake . I've had a difficult time pulling myself away from it today. It's best described as a question collective, or a community-driven discussion blog, where users can upload a question and then people discuss it civilly. Right now it's focused on life's big questions, such as do we get what we pray for? , why do we spend so much time talking about other people? , and do the imaginations of adults need [...]

Question Ft. Smoke DZA & Devin - Just Look (Remix) (DIRTY/CDQ/NO DJ)

What has been so overrated that it's now underrated?
Hot damn! My old NYC rocker pal Greg Hoy kicked it out, and beat me to the punch. I'd been planning a revamped Moody Blues cover of " Go Now " for a while, and Greg came out and totally annihilated the Moody Blues' "Question" . I mean, kicked it - all the accents are in the right place - the backing vocals, the guitars, the cool bass line and more. Rockin' it out. Right on. 'Kissy Kissy' is pretty cool, too.
Is there anything music relevant about this post? Sort of, but you'd be a liar if you said you didn't watch a couple of television shows or at least partially submerse your soul in the cultural realm that is TV. It's hard to avoid it even if you wanted to; aside from disconnecting the cable or kicking the satellite off the roof, our mass media-navigated culture that appears uniquely American is reliant on the crafty disciples of internet and television. However, it is quite fun. There are far too many entertaining indulgences to pass up but only [...]
![Shhhh-It! What Would You Ask Joe The Engineer? [Anonimous Interview Series]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1337264_lg.jpg)
Last week, as part of the Shhhh-It! AnonIMous Interview Series, I interviewed an engineer about recording hip-hop and pop records. Y'all seemed to like the peek inside the studio, so I figured I would continue our conversation. So... what questions do you have about the studio, recording, etc? Put 'em in the comments, and Joe will answer them for you! Now's your chance to look behind the curtain!

As I expected our night at the Ekoin Buddhist temple in Koyasan put a limit on my online activities, so we're smushing days 3 & 4 together. That kind of works out for the best because they were like that anyway. Half of yesterday was spent getting out to Koyasan from Osaka and for half of today we were traipsing around, too much luggage already weighing us down, making our way to Hiroshima. I totally loved Osaka. Like something major. I would've spent more time there in a heartbeat. But [...]
"Friends have come from afar, how happy we are!" -Confucius I adore the Olympics. Ever since I was little, something about having global, seasonal sporting events every four years really appealed to me. The idea of winning gold and having the entire eyes of the world upon you was, and still is, a fantastic notion that few other athletic events could ever match. With one of the best Opening Ceremonies I'd ever seen kicking off the Beijing Olympics last night at 8:08 (on 8/8/08), it officially means I [...]
![[Question] The Dark Knight, ya dig?](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1166832_lg.jpg)
With my (own) internet being turned on tomorrow between the customer friendly, corporate convenient hours of 8-11 A.M. and having moved this past weekend, I just now got a chance to see Heath Ledger overshadow almost everyone else in The Dark Knight . Everyone I know has been talking about the movie (with a lot of emphasis on Ledger's performance) and many of you undoubtedly contributed a few dollars to its record-smashing $155.3 million opening weekend so I want to hear what critics like yourselves thought. Posthumous "Best Supporting Actor" nod/win for Heath Ledger? Did you [...]

I find myself wishing I had more knowledge on certain subjects as of late.... particularly the ins and outs of data visualization and social network analysis.
