The dedication ceremony is in honor of Philly's proverbial "underground" band's 13-album career as well as their work in community outreach and their "Roots1013 youth lecture series. In case you can't make Friday's ceremony, peep the preview image above. But you should try and make it. Everyone's gonna be there, including [...]

Questlove and restauranteur Stephen Starr open Hybird in New York's Chelsea Market . The menu features Quest's fried chicken drumsticks, dumplings, "Questolicious Cupcakes" ( including the "Sexual Chocolate (On Chocolate)" variety, which would make a great song title - ed. ), and slushies. Michael Klein, from the Philadelphia Inquirer attended an industry party at Hybird and writes "the drumsticks are plump, meaty and thick-crusted." As for a Philly location? Klein writes Stephen Starr's response: "This isn't even open!" Starr exclaimed. "Let's see how it does. But if it works, Philly [...]

While this two covers have been floating around for some time, Okayplayer thought it was an appropriate time to shed some light on these fine Stevie Wonder covers. After all, it is Wonder's birthday today. Apparently Questlove and James Poyser recorded these rare gems back between 2002 and 2004 in response to Madlib's Yesterday New Quintet project titled Stevie . Known as the Randy Watson Experience, Questo and Poyser thought they could do "You've Got It Bad Girl" and "Visions" justice. As expected, they delivered. Listen to their take on the classic Wonder cuts below.
![Hot Docs - Finding The Funk [2013, Dir. Nelson George, USA]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4946221_lg.jpg)
Finding The Funk Directed by Nelson George (better known perhaps for his 2007 directorial debut entitled Life Support starring Queen Latifah for which she won a Golden Globe for), Finding The Funk is a fine effort overall. Neither complete nor comprehensive in its scope, it's somewhat like an introductory college course serving to give a general understanding of the evolution of funk and to touch on some of the major progenitors of the genre. Dutifully narrated by The Roots' drummer ?uestlove [...]

Over the last few months Bonnaroo organizers have been sharing videos of last year's SuperJam on their YouTube channel . The 2012 edition of the SuperJam featured D’Angelo performing on an American stage for the first time in 12 years. The Roots drummer Questlove , participating in his third Bonnaroo SuperJam, put the ensemble which backed D’Angelo together. The latest installment of Bonnaroo's SuperJam 2012 mini-doc finds D'Angelo and Questlove leading the band through The Beatles' Abbey Road classic She Came In Through The [...]

When Reach insistently repeats the refrain "Hip Hop Is Alive" on his new album Live at RecordBar , he isn't celebrating the latest success of Wale or 2 Chainz. Reach is a true believer in the original purist ideals of hip hop. The new release- his fourth full-length album- serves as affirmation of Reach's principles. Supported by the funk/jam band Mouth , DJ Ataxic and vocalists Schelli Tolliver, Sausha Brooks and Vance Ashworth, the well-recorded collaboration brings out the best in each participant. Live at RecordBar [...]

Here's a free, Philly-centric and giggle-packed glimpse of what future Tonight Show bandleader Questlove's NYU class must be like. Lots to learn from these top-notch nerds; the conversation runs more than 45 minutes.

Make the best use out of the next 46 minutes by tuning into this incredible conversation between Nardwuar the Human Serviette and Questlove (of The Roots, D'Angelo, Jimmy Fallon, et. al). The two Scholars of Modern Music discuss Philadelphia and its graffiti culture, influential radio DJ Jocko Henderson, Stevie Wonder's cameo on The Cosby Show , Mel Brooks and Rodney Dangerfield as rap pioneers, and who Questlove considers to be the first true emcee. You'll likely learn a thing or 10. Plus, if you take a sip every time Questlove laughs, you're in for a pretty fun [...]

Questlove crosses the border to "Vancouver British Columbia Canada" and gets greeted by Nardwuar. The results create what may be one of the longest interviews done by Nardwuar since it crosses the 45-minute mark. But this is Questlove we're talking about. If there's anyone as eccentric and knowledge about music and musicians as Nardwuar is that person would be The Roots' drummer. The conversations drifts as they cover a wide spectrum of topics from music, personal life and more but one the peaks comes as Quest explains how Hawaiian Punch once got him in a [...]

When two music nerds come together, the conversation tends to be a journey. Questlove was ready for The Human Serviette, but he still got caught off guard right from the beginning. Got 46 minutes? Watch Nardwuar's full interview with Questo above.
Holy sh*t. Nardwuar just dropped this 46 (!) minute interview with Questo of the Roots. We'd love to provide a synopsis of what goes down, but we've only just begun to delve into Nard's latest link-up. What we can tell you, though, is that Quest is left speechless from the start, and it will probably serve as a historical lesson for all you young guns out there. This guy is good. Really, really good. The post Video: Nardwuar vs. Questlove appeared first on Vibe To This .

Several years back, Nardwuar linked up with Questlove for the kind of interview that, well, only the Human Serviette can pull off. But sure enough, he topped that interview with yet another epic, ridiculously long interview with Questo. This thing runs 46 minutes (!) and is worth every second of your time. How do I know this? Nardwuar goes with the Questo-described "sucker punch" right off the jump. Grab a few drinks and enjoy.
