Matt Stevens' instrumental arsenal does not compare to a full-blown orchestra, which for can be a challenging task for one without vocal accompaniment. Quiet Village are one of those acts that have really captured my love. To my knowledge they haven't put out a record since 20082s Silent Movie (check out my review here ) on Whatever We Want Records. I keep coming back to the record which mostly consists of psychedelic edits. This one in particular is amazing. A dope Giorgio Moroder lays down the framework. The soulful vocals do it for me though - think I might have them memorised by now. Highly recommended for a sunny afternoon. Quiet Village - Too High To Move
We're having a rather special party next Wednesday 13th July with a very special guest dj slot from Quiet Village's Joel Martin. Fresh from compiling the rather special 'Born to be wild' compilation of americana, country soul and acid-folk with Mo Morris; Joel joins the Beat residents in the intimate attic space of the Lock Tavern to share some of the sounds that inspired the compilation. London born singer-songwriter Jonathan Jeremiah just re-released his great single 'Happiness'. Here's the new official video directed by Matt Adcock and filmed partly on the wild and windswept coast near Dungeness. 'Happiness' drops on March 21 on Island. His forthcoming debit album 'A Solitary Man' is also released on the same day. Classical instrumentalists, Quiet Village released their utterly moving album, Silent Movie , back in 2008. Since then it has become an absolute favorite of mine. The album showcases classic serene textures and stirring melodies that dip you in a daydream of mountain landscapes and meditative forests, making it perfect to listen to at anytime of day. With echoed reverby tones and psychedelic drum rifts, this 'silent moive' is definitely something meant to be heard. This little number dropped a while back (in 2008) as part of Quiet Village 's sample heavy, nostalgic soundtrack-esque debut LP. The album ranges through Endtroducing -era DJ Shadow, to ambient soundscapes to slow mo beats, not all of it consistent, but I always dug this track the most.
