It's another amazing week for new releases. It seems that January started off a bit slow, but has really come on strong the last couple of weeks. Truthfully I can't remember two consecutive weeks of new releases that had this much quality music. Overwhelmed? I know the feeling, I'm still trying to get my hands on some of last weeks new releases . Also, it looks like next week might be just as good. As always feel free to let us know if we forgot something. [...]

It is not excruciatingly difficult to find a class that covers the basics of audio recording. Whether it is offered as a college course or a class at a community center, some handy help from Google will likely dig up some info for an area near you. However, even though a few of these classes are run by experienced veterans of the audio recording industry, few can say that they were taught the basics by someone who is universally described as "the father of modern recording". With this in mind, I am sure that it would have been a shocker [...]

Photo by David Greenwald The last time I saw the L.A. locals, they were chilling out at Arthurfest after a successful set and taking in an epic Black Keys performance. Bros indeed! The group brings their Mercury Rev -on-even-more-downers sound to the Echo tonight to kick off this month's free Monday night residency. The new Radar Bros record is one of my most anticipated record of the new year. There's just something about this bands sound that gets under my skin (in a good way). This band somehow has a knack for taking elements from bands like Mercury Rev, Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo and combining that East Coast aesthetic with a kind of Arizona meets California laziness and haze that makes them one of the most interesting groups out there. Unfortunately I've got nothing to share with you from the upcoming record but here's [...]

In news that may excite only myself and Brian @ Bows + Arrows , Jim Putnam announces on MySpace that a new Radar Bros. album is finished and likely due for a January release. The post: our new album is finished, mastered and in the can! i'm sleeping better already, with the aid of some otc pills....generic of course. what can i say? looking at a january release most likely, and the album title will be "auditorium". 12 songs. good ones. vodka or bourbon? jim p.s.- [...]
Jim Putnam and his cohorts are entering the final stages of recording their new album, the follow up to 2005's 'The Fallen Leaf Pages'. That album received a mixed reaction, the fans hailed its languid charm while the detractors pointed to a lack of variation. Well, who cares what they think when here on the blogosphere all you generally get is one mp3 per band with variation just a mere post
