If you hadn't figured it out based on the fact that we've posted on him twice in one day, or by the interview we did with him last Summer, I am a big fan of Ben Cooper, the singer and songwriter who embraces a DIY aesthetic by making weird, gorgeous, haunting folk music that he [...]
Miaou are a talented band from Tokyo, Japan. They make dreamy electronic music full of all kinds of lush, melodic audio landscapes, which is in full evidence on their fourth full-length album The Day Will Come Before Long, which is out now on Big Cartel. The song "Lost Souls" features vocals from one of my [...]
Recent Minnesota-transplant Astronautalis didn't take long to ingratiate himself in the Twin Cities music community, easily winning over local music fans with his high-spirited live shows and g
Here is my list of the songs I liked best in 2011, which will be the last one we offer here. I only adhered to three rules with this list, really: 1. The song had to be officially released in 2011, 2. I could only select one song for any artist, and 3. The list [...]

I've been thinking a lot about the list-making process. Someone recently asked me: What is the purpose of making a list? My initial reaction - because it's fun - is actually somewhat shallow. Is it really? Yeah, probably...somewhat...maybe? But if so, still: Why? In listening to me think out loud about this, my wife commented that she doesn't make lists for fun. Why, then? "To keep myself sane. To make sure I don't forget things I need to do." In other words: To make order out of chaos. To provide structure to an unstructured world. As [...]

Radical Face is the brainchild of Jacksonville, FL-based Ben Cooper, who has also been a member of several other bands and projects, including Electric President, Patients, Iron Orchestra, and Mother's Basement. As Radical Face, Cooper has created an outlet for his unique and intricate storytelling. His 2007 LP Ghost was a concept album that explored the notion that houses have "memories"; that is, the events and experiences that occur within them live on (as "ghosts") after the residents are gone. Cooper's next Radical Face project, The Family Tree , is a trilogy of albums [...]
In 2011, I saw more than 500 bands perform live over 265-plus days of show-going, and still I feel as if I missed a lot. Plenty of what I did see remains etched in my memory, though, from festival adventures big and small (SXSW, Coachella and FYF to the Silverlake Jubilee, the substitute Sunset Junction soiree, Lobsterfest and more) to club shows that reminded me that up-close-and-personal is best. Below, my favorite 15 live moments of 2011 (with a previously unpublished photo gallery by Laurie Scavo from No. 8, Eastern Conference Champions' album-release show): [...]

The holiday season is upon us (also basketball season, finally). But mostly, it's the season of ugly sweaters, drunk uncles, and, if you're a teenager, enough gift cards to paper your walls because nobody knows what to get you. We here at The Wild Honey Pie are better at Christmas shopping than your great Aunt Mildred, though. We put together a holiday playlist full of classics and indie favorites that will keep your earbuds warm when the weather outside starts to get frightful. There's no better soundtrack to accompany the decking of halls, the nogging of eggs, [...]

Divertitevi. [...]

Interview: Erik David Hidde (Housewarming Records) Erik David Hidde is the man behind Housewarming Records , a worldwide digital label and home of several bands featured on these pages, namely, 17-year old London producer Jamie Isaac , downtempo IDM project IVVVO from Portugal, Austin’s Gladius The Fertile , Berlin’s Freakish Atlantic and a little closer to home, Brighton’s Birkwin Jersey. As this interview goes out, Housewarming is digital, free and and able to be checked out in more detail at the Housewarming Records website . [...]

After seeing many of my favourite music bloggers start the annual ritual of listing the "Top Songs of the Year", I decided I would give it a go as well. I originally tried to narrow it down to my top 20 tunes but alas, 12 hours later, I present to you the first instalment of my list...songs # 51 through #60 . Just remember, these are just MY favourites...there were so many awesome albums released over the past 12 months. Make sure to go out to live shows, buy records and remain open-minded to all genres of music. I sincerely [...]
The second part of Given and Taken in Ink's autumn mix is now up on 8tracks: Every time I make a new list, I think it's the best one I've ever done. Sometimes that's actually true. This just may be one of those times. There's the pure pop joy (no pun intended) of "Murderous Joy," the quirky brilliance of Siskiyou, and the weary rasp of Dan Mangan. I love the tranquility of "State / Meant" juxtaposed with the anxiously dreamlike "Curfews." "Ghost Towns" and "My Friends" are highlights of two masterful albums. And I [...]
(Se cliccate sulle immagini ci stanno le canzoni preferite) The Low Anthem | Smart Flesh Feist | The Metals [...]

![[Playlist] The Restaurant – Opening Hours](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3901408_lg.jpg)
So, over the past couple months I have been attempting to learn how to run a restaurant. On my parade through the many positions and shifts that happen on a daily basis, I have noticed a variety of musical themes to the day. By far my favourite so far has been the first few hours that you have before the doors are unlocked in the morning. Durnig this time there is a lot of paperwork done, money counted, payroll entered and most of all, A LOT of coffee/espresso/cappuccino/etc consumed. To balance out the caffeine highs, I have turned to my [...]
