Below you can find yourself a brand spanking new tune called "Comets" from UK based band Rapids! The band has striking similarities to early Bloc Party so you know we ATH kids will get behind that business. This new tune appears on a new EP from the group entitled Fragments due out September 27th on Old Flame Records . Happy Wednesday. Downloads: Rapids! - Comets [MP3]

The UK band Rapids! will release their EP Fragments in the United States on September 27th. The new EP "is the sound of a band discovering its true identity; peeling back layers of bouncy math-pop beats and angular guitar hooks, leaving at its core a body of work that swirls with deep intensity and primal emotion." Take a listen to the song "Comets": Rapids! - Comets

Rapids! Bloc Party has remixed the Rapids! track "Nameless/Faceless" and although SoundCloud is preventing me from embedding it, you can listen or download the track via SoundCloud here .

"Nameless // Faceless," is the closing track on Rapids! forthcoming Fragments EP . Written in the band's cramped and claustrophobic rehearsal space during the winter of 2010, Fragments perfectly soundtracks the daily struggle of life in a sleepy coastal town. With its gushing honesty and striking maturity, Rapids! proves themselves worthy of our time. The band recorded in three separate studios during the making of the EP. The job fell on the shoulders of producer/mixer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild) to collect up the fragments and blend them into one. [...]

Words: Saam Das Last month, Surfacing alumni Rapids! released a double A-side single which I somehow missed. Seeing as the Bournemouth quintet didn't get a big up in our July singles round up , here's a separate internet pat on the back for 'Comets' and 'House Of Sand And Fog'. Listen to the tracks below. I'm not hugely into 'House Of Sand And Fog' but perhaps 'Comets' [...]

Bournemouth, UK 5 piece band Rapids! formed in August 2009 and released their first 3 track, self titled EP a few months later in November. It was limited to just 200 copies and containing their earliest songs; Maps, Void and The Elitist. Following further time in the studio, they released a 6 track EP in March 2010, building on their first three tracks with the songs Fuses, Economics and Inland Empire. Following this the band signed to London label Heist Or Hit (The Answering Machine, The Crookes, Love Like Fire) in July 2010. [...]

Rapids are from Sidney, Australia. They released only an EP and this is the video for their single Go Better Than That . It could be a good summer tune. via bigstereo
The next episode in our Twitterview series...meet Rapids!

Rapids! From: Bournemouth /Southampton / Portsmouth, United Kingdom The South Coast of England hasn't been having the best of times recently. They've had very little to cheer with their football clubs dismally failing to set the sporting world on fire. Southampton are mid table in the third tier of English football (interestingly called League 1!). Portsmouth are in administration and destined to drop into the second tier and Bournemouth are in the ninth tier! But things are looking up for the South Coasters with Portsmouth [...]

Today's 'Introducing' band is a step back from the 'lo-fi' direction of many of February's discoveries. Instead of fuzz soaked guitars, we have a huge a wall of sound. The band in question, Rapids! , are babies in the grand scheme of things. They formed last September through the magic of Gumtree (it's not just for free sofas and temp jobs) but have already supported the likes of The Chapman Family & Victorian English Gentlemen's Club . They also have a support slot with Errors coming up [...]

Rapid , Ruff Sqwad Signee is giving his latest tune away free on his twitter. I'm not gonna lie, this tune is pretty damn good. The video is equally as impressive too. If all UK Hip-Hop was like this, we'd be chart-topping more often. Click for a DL link, catch the video below: Next up; the 'chart version' of Kanye West and Mr. Hudsons 'Anyone But Him.' If you were a follower of this site from last year, you may remember we posted this track way before the [...]
respect to Rapid for making something grime-y yet accessible. Track's called 'Go Rapid ', the beat(S) are deep and he deserves some appreciation for his hustle. Album most likely coming SOON.
The first official image for the new Aston Martin Rapide has hit. Never has a four dour sports car looked so sexy. If James Bond had a family this is what he'd drive. Just wish the front grill wasn't so straight. Seems it could use a littler tapering. From the Auto Blog : One of the most obvious competitors to the Rapide is the new Porsche Panamera, and while the two cars share much in concept, they have diverged greatly in styling. Porsche went for function over form, ensuring that adult-sized rear [...]

It seems that the chillout genre that has been gracing record shop stands in the form of myriads of compilations has died down. But, some of its pioneers are still hard at work on other projects that are set to titillate us into an new era of smooth sounds. Erlend Øye , of solo and Kings Of Convenience fame, has unleashed his latest effort with his project The Whitest Boy Alive. It's a sultry summer record with elements of big band, ska and the thing he is known for - chillout. The album, titled Rules , is truly a [...]
