Astro-traveling beat maestro Ras G and MC Open Mike Eagle are currently caught up in a pretty cool project with non-profit organizations J.U.i.C.E. and AGYA that will take them to Uganda to record a project with a few local musicians. The three-week exchange program would almost certainly yield some fascinating results, set to occur this May. I've been offered an opportunity that I never could have imagined. I've been selected along with Brainfeeder artist Ras G to travel to the african nation of Uganda to teach a youth program about hip-hop and record a project with Ugandan rap artists. The project was conceived and developed by LA hip-hop non-profit organization J.U.I.C.E. and has been partially funded by a grant from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. The grant, however, calls for matching funds. This means that they fund half of the overall budget for the project with the responsibility [...]

This post is exciting for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is a collaboration between two Potholes favorites, Open Mike Eagle and Ras G . Secondly, and more importantly, it brings to our attention an admirable new project that these two artists have set out to achieve, a hip-hop outreach of sorts that will take place in Uganda. The program will involve a group of Ugandan youth, as Open Mike and Ras G teach them about the hip-hop culture and also involve them in the recording of a new album. Nocando recently dropped off a free EP by the name of Zero Hour . One of the tracks on the EP is called "Hollywood", and fellow LA dweller Ras G took some time out of his busy schedule of smoking weed in the lab to dub up and remix it. It has also come to our attention that these two have been pretty close for a while. How about a futurist hip-hop collaboration, guys? Hit the skip to stream the track.

The eccentric Ras G describes "Times Cold" as "another raw blunted adventure from spacebase." I'd have to agree with him on that, as this new track slowly crawls along like marijuana smoke we are all sure he has been living off of in the studio. A week or so back Ras G was kind enough to give away the free track " Uno 4 General Black ". Spaced-out Brainfeeder producer Ras G must be feeling pretty inspired lately. Just last night he dropped off a slinky track, " Coto Loco ," and he's already followed it up with something new in "Marijuana." According to Ras, he was cleaning up his "SPACEBASE" while listening to some vinyl he bought in Europe. And after hearing a few tracks, he found some parts that he just had to sample and chop. If you like your beats thick, fuzzy, and pretty fucking minimalist, Ras G is your pusherman. Dude's been sharing some great new material as of late, including "Uno 4 General Black," and this latest jam is no different. "Coto Loco" is, well, kind of crazy. The low-end creeps along like molasses being poured over your subwoofer while a vocal sample of "Don't you know I'm loco?" reverberates throughout.
