Click here to view the embedded video. NYC's the Rassle is a good ol rock & roll band that makes music that feels like it is pulled from another era & modernized and rocked the hell out. Check out their video for their single "21," a rollicking full-speed-ahead track that practically forces you to play at loud volumes (11 anyone?) If by some reason you don't already have it, grab their free Introductions EP . Those of you planning on attending SXSW plan on these guys play a few shows and [...]

Today we have for you the new video from The Rassle . The clip, which they produced themselves, is for their song "21." Nice work fellas. Check out the video below, I think you'll enjoy it...I do.

Picture it: the 4th of August, 2010, Washington, DC. I've just taken over the reins as Editor of TGTF when I get an email from a PR company we've worked with for a while that read like this: Hope you are well and enjoying the summer. We are looking after a new band who hail from Nashville. They go by the name of 'Mona' and we are honestly so excited about them! But don't take my word for it, I have copied a link below where you can download their video for the new song [...]
When I originally posted about The Rassle it was part of a larger post and I'm kinda worried you all missed it. I've been enjoying the tracks off their free EP for a while and if you haven't sat up and taken notice of this band yet then you really should. I won't go over old ground again but what I will point out to you is that they have a new free download available. On first listen it sounds pretty damn good, pretty damn good indeed.

The Rassle: June 22 @ Pianos, New York, N Y Last Wednesday, I was over at Pianos. As I was walking through to the back room, I walked past a guy and thought, hm, he looks familiar. As I'm waiting for things to get started, that same guy hops up on stage to prep for the show. It was then that it hit me I'd seen him play before with anoth [...]

The Rassle - who placed at #90 in our latest Best of NYC Emerging Artists Poll - present a bratty vocal style and ramshackle rock band sound on songs like "Celebrate the Days" and "Full Speed Ahead." Positioned between the happier side of The Jesus and Mary Chain and Mick Jones' Big Audio Dynamite. The band played several Deli shows, including one in Austin during SXSW. They will be also performing at one of The Deli's B.E.A.F. (Best of Emerging Artists Fest) show at Brooklyn Bowl on May 26. - Dave Cromwell

Photo by G. The Rassle Sticky! I love it when my 2 of my favorite things overlap: music and street art. The Rassle are one of the hottest bands on the scene now and you have no idea how pleased I was when I saw this sticker in Manhattan. It was born free. If you don't know The Rassle's music, head on over to their official site immediately and introduce yourself. Their music will be played in stadiums, so you have a short amount of [...]
ACROBATICS - Give Away I spent two days in Kansas playing with my cousin's kid, Eric. He's a beefy 3-year-old, replete with the missing front tooth and bowl cut. When he runs, which is frequent, even when just going down the hall to brush his teeth or wash his face upon a maternal command, he uses only the balls of his feet, like a dancer up on tip-toes. We did everything together. Made peanut butter, jelly, and cheese sandwiches. Tied shoes. Rinsed dishes, him up on a stool to reach over the sink. [...]

The Rassle released their first EP earlier this year, and it has been stuck in my head ever since. Comprised of former members of The Virgins, The Takeover UK, and The Young Lords, this supergroup makes huge riff fueled indie rock numbers that are beyond engaging. Their songs are not only uplifting, but also can be thought as anthems. These guys have a sound that is taylor made for playing to packed, sweaty venues. Go to http://therassle.com/# to download the band’s debut EP for free. Seriously, all four songs are memorable and you will [...]

By Pete Donahue Some music fans and critics argue free downloads lessen listening experiences, that music offered to anybody free of charge must not be worth paying for in the first place. But I think a majority of music followers would disagree with such a notion that “free” equals “bad.” In just the past few weeks, we have seen two notable albums released for free: Eric and Magill’s All Those I Know and Yellow Ostrich’s The Mistress . Given the quality of these albums, [...]

After touring for much of the last couple years, it looked like The Duke Spirit was ready for a long break in the studio. Now as we approach the end of the year, it turns out we were half right. They did take a break and head into the studio. It just wasn't for very long. But after seeing them try out new material at Santos Party House along with a few old favorites, all that can be said is "Thank God for that." The Duke Spirit put on a show of ferocious energy that left ears ringing and [...]
The Rassle - comprised of members from The Virgins, The Takeover UK, and Young Lords - sit down with Lauren Tischler and reveal the origin of their name, how technology affects their music, the band's interesting songwriting process, and their promising road ahead.

Bringing back a sound: The Rassle. Photo by Jimmy Fontaine The Rassle is a recently-formed New York City rock/post-punk band composed of former band members from two other great NYC rock bands, The Virgins and the The Young Lords. So naturally, when The Rassle's Erik Ratensperger (and ex-Virgins member) sent us a couple of songs, we had [...] Related posts:Band to Watch: Nashville's The Vermicious K'nids In Dee Mail: France's Garage Rock Band Kid Bombardos Are A Band... " Yeah we were born free // can't you see? // it's our destiny " - bursts the chorus of a hip and new NYC band, The Rassle . Not sure if this means the end of The Young Lords and/or The Virgins, since it's composed of their members, but if it does, it is a cool, phoenix-like rise from the ashes. They've just launched their new EP which is a free download and was recorded in an appartment with a cheap mic and an old computer. This is the lo-fi part. Their music is super-catchy, good-natured garage [...]
