The Danish duo return to form and deliver some of their most compelling material in recent memory. The Raveonettes waste no time getting Into the Night off the ground. A vintage sounding guitar kicks off the title track before it explodes into one of the band's most memorable songs. Their 1950's pop revivalism-meets-Jesus and Mary Chain approach is nearing perfection and "Into the Night" is proof. After an opening as strong as that it would've been easy for this EP to lose momentum but the band has consistently proven to be in...

The Raveonettes dropped their newest EP Into The Night about a month ago now and the title track keeps on ringing in my ears. I have always been fond of The Raveonettes and the music they create, it always had that raw, edgy, garage, mid 60's sound to it. 'Into The Night' is no different, listening to the music feels like you should wait and hear The Velvet Underground next in your playlist. The opener on this 4-song EP is the title track, an ethereal, full-bodied nostalgia trip. Danes Sune Rose Wagner and Sharon Foo "followup" their previous EP with this gem available for streaming for the price of an email address. A nice introduction to the group with a growing cult following and a penchant for reverb and lyrics bursting with longing and impossible love. Night Comes Out is the most dynamic of the selections, with subtly familiar guitar riffs that are admittedly buried under velvet reverb , but there all the same. [...]

The long anticipated debut solo album, Blunderbuss, from iconic rocker and semi-celebrity Jack White, officially dropped this week to a huge amount of buzz and publicity. While the advanced reviews have been largely positive, it is only in the past few days that most fans have been able to get their hands on the official [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
Last Saturday was Record Store Day, the one day in the year reserved to shine a spotlight on records and record stores across the country. It was a very successful one, too! The Black Angels 73 that we've been raving about did mighty well at Waterloo Records, who reported that it ...
According to the press release for Into the Night , the latest EP from The Raveonettes is "a delightfully damaged ode to the letdowns of lost love" and is filled "with dreamy harmonies that only Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo could create." What is it about Spector girl group vocals and reverb that make them go together so well with bitterness, heartbreak, and the fallout of love that's gone? In any case, The Raveonettes know it, and they've been using it to their advantage for a decade now. Into the Night's [...]
The new EP Into The Night by The Raveonettes can now be streamed at Soundcloud (and probably a few other places as well). Into The Night by The Raveonettes

2012 marks a decade since Danish scuzz masters The Raveonettes first began releasing records. In that time they've maintained a regular and prolific output (five albums, five EPs, loads of singles) and refused to even think about following trends, instead allowing other bands to take their lead (hello Crocodiles, Dum Dum Girls, The Vandelles and many more). Only once, on major label experiment 'Pretty In Black', did they allow their sound to deviate slightly from their trusted blueprint. Of course this means we generally know what to expect from each release, yet somehow this fails dampen the effect. [...]

It's hard to believe after all the projects that Jack White has been involved with over the years that he's only just now getting to his first solo album. Blunderbuss tops this week's list of new releases, and if you're fan of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs or The Dead Weather, grabbing this one is a no brainer, though you'll get a you'll definitely be in for some surprises. As our Music Director, Don Yates, says, it "features a more expansive and diverse sound than anything's he's recorded with, masterfully combining elements of garage-rock, folk-rock, blues, country, ragtime, [...]

The Raveonettes have a new EP coming out later this month and the first single titled "Into The Night" is every bit of the fuzzy/distorted goodness you would expect from albums like Chain Gang of Love and Lust Lust Lust . This is the sound that I'm most fond of when I immediately think of the band, so I'm glad that this song incorporates a lot of those great elements. And Sune Rose Wagner's vocals? Lovely as usual, and goes really well over the song for nice shoegaze-y track to add to your night-driving mix. [...]
