The Video post is a Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition special. I have a few weeks to listen trough 198 artists and make a top three. For the next three weeks I'll be regularly featuring artists from my list who may or may not make the top three. So hopefully youv'e noticed that I have been trying to broaden my musical horizons in an effort to provide you with recommendations for new music that doesn't suck. This week I've been listening to a new group called Bootstraps that was originally formed to make music for a movie. Here is the band's Bio from their website bootstrapsmusic.com. Bootstraps is an American rock band that was formed in Los Angeles by Jordan Beckett. The band further consists of Nathan Warkentin and David Quon. Their debut album was recorded by Skip Saylor in Northridge, California after actor/director [...]

Ok. I debated whether or not I was going to devote a post to Ray LaMontagne at the Ryman tonight. Not because I don't love him - because I really do. His songs kill me. Just straight-up slay me. If I were held hostage and forced against my will to list my Top Five Favorite Songs Of All Time (and this is sort of a nightmare scenario for me because... MY GOD THE PRESSURE) you would absolutely hear me call out to Ray. But I figured promoting a show that is already beyond sold-out was sort of silly... [...]

Released on his own Photek Productions, 'KU:PALM' is Rupert " Photek " Parkes' First album in over a decade (excluding 20072s 'Form & Function Vol. 2). It also continues in the vein of his recent singles which marked a departure from the intelligent drum & bass sound he became famous for. 'KU:PALM' is more streamline and more club-friendly than previous albums without sacrificing the care and attention to detail that has always set apart from his contemporaries. Though this album does make a break from his dark drum & bass sound, tracks like opener [...]

There is nothing more nostalgic than the arrival of Fall in Philadelphia. It is a time when city dwellers indulge the bounty of a good harvest and embrace the awakening chill around them. As music mimics life, Fall can also be brought into season through the creation of a well-spun playlist. Plush, kaleidoscopic colors replace verdant landscape, and lit carved jack-o’-lanterns illuminate dark alleyways. Mothers crawl into attics in search of old sweaters, while children make fresh beginnings in school. Days become shorter, nights become cooler, and the air a bit more nippier. Fall is the year’s natural [...]
Today I feel empty. Too many things to do, too many people to keep happy, and no time for me or the things that I want to do. Fortunately for me I have lots of songs about being empty and today is the day of the week when I share those songs with you.....my loyal readers/listeners. Let's kick things off with my favorite Empty song of all time, and the one that best captures my feelings this evening, Running On Empty by Jackson Browne. This is a great live performance from his 1977 tour. [...]

I had a fever, and the only prescription was more Ben Labat. Seriously, at first I was simply stuck on a [...]
