Corinne Bailey Rae's highly anticipated sophomore album The Sea has made the internet rounds today. The album was supposed to have a January 26th release, but yesterday it debuted as an online stream and now it's all over. The Sea is a very personal album that deals with the death of her husband Jason Rae . A song on the disc is called "Are You Here?" was so personal that it was not mean to be included on the album but Corinne decided to add it. Other songs include the single [...]

I really had to post this because 1. this went down in my home state of connecticut; and 2. What exactly are the odds of 4 siblings all making it into one the of the most respected and selective Ivy league schools in the country? Very slim. Kenny, Martina, Ray and Carol Crouch's perfect batting average represents a first for Yale — the first time in anyone's memory that it has offered admission to quadruplets. This whole situation is so Hip-Hop to me in the sense that these kids beat [...]

It's on! The campaign to promote Corinne Bailey Rae's second album The Sea has started with this little video of the single "I'd Do It All Again." The song's a pretty little ditty although she might sound a little off at times. Going through Brandy's wikipedia page, we read along to find out about any album or single news and we found a little known fact about the singer. Brandy and her brother Ray-J are actually the cousins of Snoop Dogg. How is that not well known? We googled it and only 2 obscure pages turned up about the subject. To make things even more fascinating. The cousins are also cousins with influential guitarist Bo Diddley. It's all in the family. This is better than Kristinia DeBarge's Janet Jackson connection! As I mentioned a couple of posts back, London's absolutely baking at the moment. We're in the grip of an intense heatwave, the type of hot spell us Britons spend months and months idolising and yearning for, then quickly despair of and detest once it arrives. Well, most seem to do so. Personally I love [...]
Doesn't show much but can give you a little bit of an insight of what their sound together might sound like. The song or whatever else they do together should be really interesting since Bobby Ray and Lupe are two of the guys who could probably go in any direction they wanted and make crazy good music. Don't know when this song is coming out or if they are doing anything else together but if they do it should be hot.
Finally, Knut from Eardrums has uploaded Volume C and D from his latest Eardrums-compilation. For a whole bunch of shiny-happy indie-pop, visit Eardrums Pop ! I've added another German blog to the blogroll: es ist der musik blog (it's the music blog). The owner is an old forum-friend from Laut.de , and you should check out his music-tipps even if you don't understand German. Great finds [...]
It was nice read Pitchfork RSS today, and see them spread the news about Zero Boys. I told Ray from Impediments, and he informed me that there was a re-issue coming + a new record coming. This is a red flag in the morning, electro sailors take warning. It's time to stop dancing. It's gonna get worse, before it gets better. Even if iTunes lowers it's prices, houses, insurance, school and cars cost too damn much. This indicates a swell of conscious, soul-filled rock and roll is on the horizon. HappyParts is committed to releasing [...]
by flip Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife becomes Fever Ray for her debut solo release due out in physical form March 24th on Mute Records. The album's first single "If I Had A Heart" will be released digitally on December 16th but you can check it out now on her Myspace . It's a trippy instrumental but I'm digging it. The album is written and produced by Karin with assistance from Christoffer Berg. [...]
in berlin we love radio....we just love it... when you watch German TV, it's like seeing grass grow...so uninspiring, so bad.... DJ Diana Frankovic keeps banging out one great program after the other! while too many radio DJs think too local in this city and hardly use their imagination, she puts together a great selection of tracks. Our opinion is: forget about the computer generated playlists - anyone can load up a bunch of mp3s, call it internet radio station..... important is the personality which drives a [...]

I'd rather be watching Steve Harvey reruns this week anyway.. No related posts.

There will be no mention of "Joe the Plumber" on this blog tonight. Sorry if you're looking for a video clip or a silly joke about Joe The Plumber Dot Com , you're simply not going to find anything here. The debate sucked. Everything sucks. I shouldn't have asked people to buy me stock when I became a Bar Mitzvah twelve years ago. I can't even buy a stick of gum today. So, yeah, no "Joe The Plumber", just photographs from today's trip to the aquarium in Long Beach, and the lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp place [...]

This is Pete Kember's (aka Sonic Boom, founding member of Spacemen 3) compilation of some of his favorite songs and influences, which he originally aired during a DJ set on UK radio, but has since compiled into a CD and double LP set. The package comes with liner notes describing the selections and why they were so inspiring. For example, Kember says of The Staples Singers' tune "This May Be The Last Time," "This Gospel gem, I believe written by Bobby Womack, is obviously the root of the Stones hit from '65. Pop Staples remains for me the greatest unsung [...]
