Following on from my post last week on burners that need to be heard, if you haven't already. This coming from the side of me that feels that not every reader out there knows every great track ever pressed to vinyl (lord knows we don't) and just wants to share heavy cuts that you may miss. UK 902s Pop-House classic from John Reid (Nightcrawlers), and second only to the Mark Kinchen 'Dub Of Doom Mix' version, which become almost bigger than the original. On December 20th, Milwaukee hip-hop duo Logic & Raze were on the legendary WMSE 91.7FM program Local/Live. Today they have released their entire live performance though an EP called "...untitled LIVE." The live EP showcases their ability to make their songs come to life while having fun and giving the listener something actually worth listening to. I'm not saying that this is "Frampton Live" but I am saying that this EP is dope and worth your time. WIB ALL THE WAY LIVE!!! DOWNLOAD "...untitled LIVE" ON BANDCAMP CLICK [...]

I would like to welcome the 18 th Derogatory Playlist – a big number for the Derogatory one and only 2 away from number 20. It is not yet time to reflect retrospectively so let's avoid hindsight and enjoy the deepness which lies ahead. The Playlist El Derog below is a segment of electronic tunes built for darken rooms, late nights, early mornings and most importantly a sound system which can deliver the tasty Wav files into your ear drums with pin point [...]

Wayne Anthony is one of the founding fathers of Acid House. To say his Genesis parties are legendary is an understatement - from his first party in October 1988 onwards, Genesis developed a prodigious reputation for cracking open huge warehouses and holding illegal raves, week after week, from Aldgate to Hackney, Tottenham to Walthamstow - but there's a hell of a lot more of a story than that, so check out his book Class of 88 - it's a brilliant read. Wayne is coming down to play some tracks at SOCIETY that capture the [...]

Tweet I first met drum n bass pioneer Blame many years ago when we hooked up for an interview for Good Looking Records. Back then he was a key part of the GLR setup, but he was already heading in his own direction through his own 720° imprint and soon enough he was off to pursue his own sound without the GLR boundaries. Over the next few years, Blame's sound touched on a heap of different styles and these days, for the time [...]

I was trying to work on a Halloween themed mix, using songs with titles such as Fear, Scare, Monster, Ghost, et al. but work demands meant I haven't really been able to spend any time on it until earlier this week, and by then no-one wants to hear Kid Koala - Tricks'n'Treats for 350 days so it fell by the wayside. Instead, find below a classic house mix I was working on, but didn't really finish but need to get out of my system. I had two versions of this ongoing, but didn't find any satisfaction with either [...]

Bonal had it right: eighties are over. Breakbot buried them. Now it's funky times, times to groove. The dark new-wave revival is over and I am not really sad about it. In order to offer them a proper funeral, here is a [...]
Raze later did the highly successful "Break 4 Love", which originally came out on this small, New Jersey, independent House Label 'GROOVE ST.' in 1987. It later came out on... High quality download and some links hidden from RSS feed, click through to http://www.feelmybicep.com for full download

From the same thrift store haul (I got about 20 records probably about 8 keepers) as the post below I got this Raze album. The only track I know by Raze is Break 4 Love which is widely considered to be one of the best early House records ever made. The version on this record though [...]
Dubbel Dutch is a name that's been popping up more and more in recent times. He has an individual sound and take on bass, party and fidgety music, which seems to be developing in every new track or remix that he does. Although i've been following his tracks, and blog, In Robots We Trust for quite a while, it was after he did a remix for Digital Manges that i really fell head over heals for his sound, and really took notice of his talents. His take on [...]
