[PHOTO: Matt Dressen for Clicky Clicky] Philadelphia noise-pop crew Bleeding Rainbow blasted through a bristling, low-fanfare set at Portland's Wonder Ballroom Friday, visiting town in support of its third record Yeah Right , which was released earlier this year on Kanine Records. Bleeding Rainbow has successfully moved beyond the more traditional pop approach of its past and in the direction of a more calculated guitar band, one evocative of a very specific point in alternative rock history. The strength of the band's more recent approach was on [...]

Challenger , creator of one of our favorite records of 2012, The World Is Too Much For Me , is hard at work on a yet untitled second LP. Having previewed the possible first single, sounding like a cross of Youth Lagoon's keyboard lushness and the throwback synths of the Reading Rainbow theme song, the second record stands to be as immense as the first. While awaiting new material, the band releases the Jesu remix of stand-out "Life In The Paint" with its glittering synths and spoken word sample, [...]

Song: "Waking Dream" Artist: Bleeding Rainbow Yeah Right is Bleeding Rainbow 's debut album with the new moniker (and larger group), but third as a band. Between the last album and now, guitarist/songwriter Rob Garcia quit his day job as an engineer to focus on this musical project, and it really shows. That's not to say Mystical Participation and Prism Eyes needed work (nor that Rob is the sole catalyst!); those two albums are impressively charming in their lo-fi buzz and fuzz, letting the pop [...]
Tweet Follow @acidjacknyc [photos by acidjack] Bleeding Rainbow just released their first album, Yeah Right , under that band name, but the husband-and-wife team of Rob Garcia and Sarah Everton have been making music together for several years. As the band Reading Rainbow, the pair put out a couple of lo-fi records that hinted at, but didn't fully deliver on their potential. With Yeah Right , the band has a masterfully produced record that does. Now joined by Greg Frantz [...]
Gave me the best headache I’ve had in a long time. Kanine , 2013 7.0/ 10.0 When indie rock starts to get broken down into genres and sub-genres (and sub-genre sub-genres) and the increasingly small and particualarly rabid and cultish fan bases of say: post punk, twee, indiepop, [...]
I hope Lavar Burton broke some heads to get two-piece Reading Rainbow to change their name to Bleeding Rainbow. I hope Geordie LaForge and his milky white eyes was so pissed at the power-pop-punk noodling of this snappy little group, that he barged in to his manager's double-wide and declared that if he could do [...]

Philadelphia garage rockers Bleeding Rainbow - formerly Reading Rainbow - have been busy prepping their new album, Yeah Right , due out 1/29 on Kanine Records. Three songs from Yeah Right have been released already: the fuzzy, anthemic "Waking Dream," the driving, punk-inflected "Pink Ruff," and the dreamy and catchy "Drift Away." Founding guitarist and vocalist Rob Garcia left his career as a mechanical engineer to focus on Bleeding Rainbow and the new album, and I corresponded with him to hear what he had to say about his old job and [...]

With just over 50 days until their Kanine Records debut Yeah, Right LP finally gets set loose (can we project an official countdown on the Ben Franklin Bridge or something?), Bleeding Rainbow shed some light on the future of their original namesake Reading Rainbow and talk about some childhood shenanigans in this new in-studio video ... Philly garage vets Bleeding Rainbow - formerly Reading Rainbow - have a new album out in January, a release from which we've already heard " Pink Ruff " and " Drift Away ." Now they've just released another, a loud-quiet-loud jam called "Waking Dream." Hear it below. Read More...

Bleeding Rainbow not Reading Rainbow #boweryballroom #indierock

They've changed to Bleeding Rainbow but we'll forever prefer their original naming convention. And that's from someone who never once set eyes on the US children's programme of the same name, so my preference is purely based on the sound the old moniker makes when tripping from my mouth. Of course the noise that trips from theirs is altogether more interesting, especially when it arrives fully decked out in all manner of fuzz poppery. And the Philly band play it for real with their endless pursuit in creating the perfect 7-inch release. In truth they don't vinyl to give tunes [...]

Words by Brendan All Hallow's Eve is upon us! Wednesday is the day of celebration, the dance of the dead. There's no need for a suave/slutty costume; there's no need for candy; there's no need for jack-o'-lanterns and cobwebs and tombstones. All you need are some friends, some pumpkin beers, and some good fucking music. That's where we come in. Here's a mixtape of Halloweeny tunes for you to play at your party. Some of these bands are as old as the hills, and some I quite literally just heard about [...]
Check out this video for Drift Away from Philadelphia's Bleeding Rainbow . The former duo once known as Reading Rainbow is now a four-piece band and plans to release a new album, Yeah Right , in January. The band is also opening for A Place to Bury Strangers at Empty Bottle next month.

Bleeding Rainbow The duo once known as Reading Rainbow now count themselves a quartet, complete with a new name and snazzy new video for the song, "Drift Away." And "no," it's not a cover of Dobie Gray .
DMX If you're taking part in the Zombie Pub Crawl this weekend, get read to stop, drop, shut 'em down, and open up shop as DMX is rolling into town to get at you, dog! X is gon' give it to ya at 9 p.

“You are the music while the music lasts.” -T.S. Eliot Bleeding Rainbow - "Drift Away" “Drift Away” is the latest track in a 7” series by Philadelphia noise rockers Bleeding Rainbow (who used to be called Reading Rainbow until Carrie Brownstein told them that their band name sucked ). The track is a swirling, gusting fuzz bomb, but vocalist Sarah Everton tames the chaos with her delicate deadpan (think Liz Phair by way of Black Tambourine’s Pam Berry). An [...]
Earlier this summer, we posted " Pink Ruff ," the first single from a new album that Philly garage-pop crew Bleeding Rainbow (formerly Reading Rainbow) were planning to release this month. Well, that album, Yeah Right , has been pushed back; it won't be out until early next year. But here's a pretty great consolation: A furiously catchy piece of fuzz-rock sugar called "Drift Away." Hear it below. Read More...

Some people have way too much time on their hands. Case in point, this masup of DMX ad libs and the opening sequence to popular 80's kids show "Reading Rainbow." While random as it may be, I have to admit it did give me a nice chuckle. (Spotted @ Complex )
