( via ) Once we decided to give all of this year's money to Sandy-related charities (last night's was Hoboken's volunteer first responders), it seemed especially appropriate to keep the opening acts close to home as well. With Real Estate, we managed to keep it close to everyone's home: formed in New Jersey, based in Brooklyn--the only thing missing was they don't seem quite so broken up about Dames closing their Hoboken location as we are. They played a beautiful set--had I been more on the ball I would have [...]

by Fred Pessaro // BBG Cleanup in Aisle 6: Real Estate @ Crest Hardware, 12/7/2012 Despite a cold and rainy Metropolitan Ave greeting their fans, Real Estate 's warm vibes took the damp chill off the evening, playing amongst socket wrenches, cans of paint and copper tubing this afternoon (12/7) at Williamsburg institution Crest Hardware. The show was part of the RCRDLBL's " Normal Crashing Tour " that puts bands in unusual places in cities across the country. Unusual [...]

"Letter Of Intent" is the absolutely catchy new synth-pop single by Ducktails (Real Estate's Matt Mondanile). Previewed from a new Domino Records album release, The Flower Lane , "Letter Of Intent" seems nothing short of a solid indication that this album will be a noteworthy one. The single features Jessa Farkas (Future Shuttle) on vocals, Joel Ford (Ford & Lopatin) playing bass and Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) on the keys. Ducktails hits the road in early 2013 with dates in New York City, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom. By Brian Litwin [...]

Despite our compilations of the week's best videos, it's difficult to remember many of them for long. Each week brings something new to marvel at and yada yada yada your mind totally erases any memory of that Kanye West video you gasped at while eating cereal one Thursday in April. Whereas you can essentially live with a song, most videos are consumed with what amounts to a glance and a nod. Granted, that's not the case for all of them, and, hey, wouldn't you know that's why we're sitting here with 25 of them in December. So, [...]
Another year, another bedroom-pop record from some project of Matt Mondanile's - The Flower Lane constitutes the second release of the Real Estate sideman's onetime solo project Ducktails , which has evolved into a group effort. "Letter of Intent" is the record's glimmering, delirious second single, which features Jessa Farkas of Future Shuttle and Ian Drennan of Big Troubles trading off some beautiful vocals and the inimitable Oneohtrix Point Never delivering warbling synth solos that remind us of Bernie Worrell in [...]

Heeeey, this doesn't really sound like Ducktails. " Letter of Intent " is the sexy lead single from The Flower Lane , featuring Lopatin on synth, Ford on bass, and Jessica Farkas on vocals.

Ducktails , the side-project headed by Real Estate member Matt Mondanile, just released this gorgeous new single "Letter Of Intent." The track features the help from some familiar names, including Daniel Lopatin ( Oneohtrix Point Never ) and Joel Ford, whom you may recall was his partner on Ford & Lopatin . Additionally, Jessa Farkas provides some heart-warming vocals. Check the track out below, and grab Ducktails' new album The Flower Lane January 29, via Domino Records .

A couple of months back , Real Estate guitarist Matthew Mondanile’s musical project Ducktails announced a new album, The Flower Lane , scheduled for release on January 29th through Domino and shared the title track. Today, we get the incredibly good listen "Letter of Intent" featuring Jessa Farkas on vocals with Daniel Lopatin on synth and Joel Ford on bass of Ford + Lopatin. Our year end coverage begins with the three chiefs over at the ATH offices reveling in what was an incredible year in Austin, musically speaking. Tons of rad bands blew us away with their live sets, and, well, there were just tons of bands. I think we did more show coverage this year than in previous years, but as always, the great thing about our site is diversity. We're also linking back to our full reviews and photos of some of these nights, so you can get more of a feel of our thoughts, not to mention, checking out Brian's [...]
Real Estate guitarist Matt Mondanile also records as Ducktails, and his new album The Flower Lane drops next month. We've already posted the album's title track , but the official first single is "Letter Of Intent," a slow-melting synthpop tune that I'd have to call out-and-out catchy. The track has a vocal from singer Jessa Farkas, and a couple of other prominent guests: Daniel Lopatin, better known as Oneohtrix Point Never, on synth, and Lopatin's Ford & Lopatin partner Joel Ford on bass. Listen below. Read More...

Glo-Fi/Chill Wave fans should mark January 23rd on their calendar, because that's when New Jersey's Ducktails will celebrate the release of their first album on Domino Records with a show at Le Poisson Rouge. Started as a solo project by Real Estate's Matt Mondanile, Ducktails evolves with this album into a more collaborative effort. The preview title-track (streaming below) loses the low fidelity component present in all the band's previous releases, but gains big time in the songwriting and production departement, so much so that we may want to call this "Dream Pop" rather than Glo-Fi. Look out [...]
