OK, without the house and we doubt anyone stops being polite. But the Chevy Music Showcase will feature twelve St. Louis artists in a TV series. Each of the bands will get a two-minute episode... Continue reading "Real World, St. Louis Music Edition: Launch Party Thursday at Atomic Cowboy" >
Brit-born singer/songwriter Charlie Winston relocated to Paris a few years ago where his stylized folk/pop has garnered him #1 albums and a devoted fan base. A chance meeting with Peter Gabriel nearly a decade ago resulted not only in a label deal via Gabriel's Real World imprint, but a friendship as well (Winston also logged a few hours as babysitter in the Gabriel home). "Hello Again" arrives via Winston's new album Running Still (available now in Europe and Canada) and delivers his combination of gypsy folk and solid jazzy pop hooks with [...]
It poured last night, and I was lulled asleep by the sound of the rain. The window was open, and I could feel a bit of a breeze, enough to make the room comfortable. This morning I called my student Florence to say hello. After having lost touch for so many years, I wanted to make sure we stayed in touch this time. She told me it was raining in Bolga, and I didn't have to imagine the storm. My memory is recent enough to see it in my mind's eye: the wind, the pouring rain and the sounds on [...]
Hear The Track HereLudicrous is a new name to me from Soundclick and is apparently a three piece, multi-country affair. More, and here you need to remain calm, they want to 'take me, slap me, hurt me, whack me' and if that isn't on with a promise I don't know what is. Still, enough with the bawdy chatter, lets get with the program and allow me to point out that Ludicrous '[combines] electronic

Spiro - Innovative, mesmerizing music from U.K. instrumental quartet utilizes traditional British folk instruments - guitar, accordion, mandolin and violin - to weave a flurry of intricate melodies together into a layered sound tapestry...signed to the Real World label by fan Peter Gabriel and finally receiving a belated U.S. release // Release : Lightbox (July 19) // Sounds like : it's almost impossible for the listener to discern individual melodies or themes as the four interplaying instruments begin to [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Releases Nick Helderman On his second album, 'Was I the Wave?', Graham Van Pelt aka Miracle Fortress embraces a glossy palette of synthesizers and drum machines, one that has doubtlessly surprised fans of his sunnier, crunchier and more guitar-based Polaris Music Prize -nominated debut, 2007's 'Five Roses'. Ironically, making 'Was I the Wave?' found him feeling altogether less of a shiny, happy person than he was when [...]

AM 's songs "A Complete Unknown", "Self Preservation" and "Grand Opinion" have been featured the last two weeks on "Real World XXV: Las Vegas" (MTV, 9pm CST). The three songs appears on his 2010 album, Future Sons & Daughters .
It's been a while since we have heard from Kinetics & One Love, but the are back with "Happy Hour", which is an awesome remix of the Office Theme Song. This song discusses their lives in the real-world and how it differs greatly from college life
Happy Thursday to you! It's cold and gross outside, and all I want to do is sit on the couch and watch Mildred Pierce. (I saw the first part ...
Not only is it hard to believe that MTV's The Real World is beginning its 25th season, but Matthew Gilbert asks an interesting question. Is the show the most influential show on the current television landscape ? You may not like this thought. I don't like this thought. Twelve years after "The Sopranos'' premiere, I would prefer to focus on how the morally complex mob drama paved the way for everything from "Mad Men'' to "The Shield'' while it opened up the once unfamiliar region of cable for mainstream [...]

A Few Pints is a segment where we meet up with our favorite bands at a local bar, buy them a few beers, and hope they reveal the keys to longevity, wealth, fame, and the secrets of the universe...or we just bullshit with them for a while about their band, what they love, and what they are currently up to. Good times and free beer for them. Josh Verbanets of Meeting of Important People was nice enough to meet us in a busy and new student populated Oakland last [...]
I am watching the premiere of the Real World New Orleans and it made me miss home and this blog. First off, Ryan is probably the biggest Douche in Real World history. I don't see him lasting long on this season. Second, I hope the girl from Mississippi gets her own show with Preston. It could be Jersey Shore for the Gulf Coast. I think it could work. Now for business. A while back my boys in Caddywhompus asked me to do a music video. It took me longer then even I would have expected. My [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. I checked out of MTV's The Real World after Seattle? Or maybe New Orleans? Hawaii? It's hard to really pinpoint at what point the show became a parody of itself, but it was during that era, for sure. Those are the last three casts where I have any sort of recollection of the participants' lives, quirks, stupid moments, etc. Which is to that "watching this makes me feel like David Bowman at the conclusion of 2001 —if 2001 had been directed [...]
At last, it's Friday! I hope you have grand weekend plans -- for now, I just dream of sitting in bed and reading a stack of comics. Last night I ran a bunch of errands (bought contact lenses, bought cheeses) then came home and watched some new episodes of United States of Tara. I really love that show, and this season is so good. Keep watching; the kids get some particularly juicy storylines.

As great as it was to see the spotlight falling on a part of the musical world which was hitherto dark to me, and despite all the praise it hoovered up last year, there was something about Mamer 's LP Eagle which I found didn't quite work. The vast open spaces of Mamer's native north west China were equated somewhat uneasily with their American counterparts, Kazakh instrumentation mixing with western-sounding drums and guitar, the fascinating folk forms from his homeland meeting a more staid Americana. However, and despite the band's apparent thoughts to the contrary, I found [...]
Thanks to the digitization of our world, every aspect of pop culture has become spread so thin as to be almost totally unreadable

Cambiamento epocale, innanzi tutto 'estetico'. Nuovo logo con la storica 'M' sempre più piccola e una programmazione che punterà moltissimo sulla formula di reality show come Real World, The Hills, Jersey Shore o The Buried Life. Notizia [...]
