Kanye West wasn't the only one bringing home a Grammy for "All of the Lights" last night, as two of his earliest collaborators shared in the honor. Both Malik Yusef and Really Doe, who earned writing credits on the track, will have a gramophone trophy for their mantle. In the clip above, 'Sef talks about his contribution to the track, and what it was like to work with Elton John. If you watched the telecast last night, then you couldn't have missed Malik in the crowd, as he was seated in the fourth row. Today Malik [...]

The return of Really D. Williams. It's been quite some time since we last heard from Really Doe-August of '09 to be exact, when his debut album, First Impression , dropped. Save for a few features , he's been pretty much invisible. Did he retire? Did he quit? Nah, Really D's been in stealth mode working on his official follow up, which is slated to drop sometime in 2012. I'm guessing it's being handled by Cartel Records, the label that handled his last project, but I'm not 100% on that. Either way, [...]
Produced by Xtreme D. & Streetz are prepping their forthcoming EP, which is due in the Spring, but in the meantime, here's a new clip from said project featuring Really D. Williams and songstress Nia. You want the Mp3? You got it.

Yesterday, Pusha T called into 107.5 WGCI's The Morning Riot on his way out of Chicago and discussed his "battle" with Consequence. Pusha Ton took a few shots, but basically said he wouldn't be responding to 'Quence over wax. Well earlier today, The Morning Riot had Consequence call in to offer a rebuttal, and as you can imagine his commentary was more colorful than ever. On top of discussing the situation with G.O.O.D., the Cons talks about GLC, Really Doe and Rhymefest and exclusively drops his new diss record "Everybody Told Me To Straighten It Out." The summer [...]
Really D. Williams has been in the studio with producer Rich P working on the follow up to his debut album, First Impressions . Perajok

Here's the complete mixtape that from Perajok and Kanye West that features the Kid Cudi track posted earlier in the week. Some pretty good tracks on here if I say so myself...no pun intended. Go Getters – World Record Holders (Full Album) Speaking of Kanye, here is a blast from the past that Andrew over at Fake Shore Drive let loose. I'll let him do the talking. Once upon a time there was a Chicago music conglomerate known as Kon-Man Productions, which was represented by Hustle, a marketing and promotions company run by Don Crowley, John "Monopoly" Johnson and Happy Lewis. At the top of the Kon-Man productions pyramid, was a up-and-coming rapper/producer by the [...]

Yeah it's that time again. Too often do we sift through the predictable media cycle of artists yelling how "crazy" their album is or even fixing their lying ass mouths to utter the other "C" word-classic. How about these C's: cut the crap. Each year, the allure of the album continues to decrease thanks in part to overhyped, superfluous projects that only possess a handful of good songs. Not to mention the legion of stans that will stick by anything short of a satanic message their favorite artist puts out. Not I. Air 'em out like spring laundry. [...]
Since the release of his debut album, First Impressions, Really Doe has been promoting the LP across the country. Last week he returned to Chicago, IL and hit SoundScape studios to record some new material. Here, RTC captures Really Doe's take on Snoop Dogg's "I Wanna Rock" in this snippet for RubyHornet.com

Rappers conscious of their initial impact to potential fans are already a step ahead. If you're G.O.O.D. Music affiliate Really Doe , you should have a few football fields worth of advantage. Making his premiere adjacent to megastars Kanye West & Nas, the newly-minted MC helped proclaim to the world "We Major" would be a catchphrase for years to come. Sadly, his debut First Impressions is anything but such declaration. Really Doe's biggest detractor is his choppy and bumbling flow. Obviously mimicking Kanye West's penchant for accenting non-rhyming syllables, [...]

Photos by Wes Allmond for 247HH Sprite Green hosted the grand opening of the R.S.V.P . store here in Chicago on Saturday by souping up a rooftop in downtown Chicago and bringing almost the whole G.O.O.D. music label down to perform. So without further adieu... The Venue: The best compliment I can pay the event was that it never dawned on me to try to get backstage. See I usually go to shows [...]
Plenty of Really Doe media in this post. First is a commercial for the album, then the video for his lead single, "Mesmerized," and finally, a 'Making Of' video at the bottom of the post. Enjoy! First Impressions is in stores now.

Did you know Really Doe's album First Impressions came out August 18th, 2009? Didn't think you did. Unless your name is Andrew Barber and you're the King of Chicago (blogs,) you don't get press releases about these types of things. Well since the video is here, let's "mesmerize" you to death shall we? Below is the behind-the-scenes footage for Mesmerized" and aside from the cool blacklight effects, it should have you ready to strangle Danny Klein after viewing. Really Doe - "Mesmerized" (Behind The Scenes) [...]

XV - G.O.O.D ft. Really Doe (prod. J Dilla) An unreleased cut from the man who is stealing the show right now - Kansas City rapper XV. This gem didn't make the cut for his recently released mixtape Everybody's Nobody but who gives a shit - it's new music! A new track from XV with Chicago rapper and G.O.O.D. music signee Really Doe - and production from who else, the legendary J Dilla. Word is a track from XV featuring Bun B and GLC is dropping real soon. DAMN! If [...]

So it turns out XV is from Kansas — who knew? It's about time an artist from The Sunflower State got some love on Midwest Broadcast. Apparently this song didn't make the cut for XV's latest mixtape, Everybody's Nobody , which I supposed I listen to, ha! Props to 2DopeBoyz for the premiere. XV: "G.O.O.D. ft. Really Doe" (Prod. J Dilla)

Here's another new joint from Really Doe's upcoming First Impressions. The album is out on Tuesday, and there's also a listening session at CRC on Monday, which I will also be at spinning. For now, enjoy "RPS" courtesy of RH.

Reallly Doe made his first mainstream appearance years ago back on Kanye's Late Registration . Now, the G.O.O.D. Music artist is finally putting out his debut album, First Impressions , on August 18. This is the second single from that album, "Marvelous." Really Doe: "Marvelous"

"I just want my kids' kids' kids to be all right..." Here's a new single off Really Doe's forthcoming debut LP, First Impressions, dropping August 18th via Cartel Records. Grab it below.
SXSW footage continues to surface, even into April. I posted Big Sean's freestyle from this same session a while back, but it looks as if someone else was doing some recording also.
