Only Daughter is the upcoming album from Rebecca Pronsky that's set for release on Nine Mile Records on March 18 2013, on this her third recording we find Pronsky broadening her music horizons which is hinted at by the album artwork, though overall the album takes a pew within the broad genre church that is Americana. The Brooklynite songwriter takes credit for all but one of albums ten tracks, the odd one out is an excellent and unusual choice of cover, Glenn Tipton a Sun Kil Moon track, a lean affair the album clocks in [...]

Part of what I love about my job at WDVX is the opportunity it sometimes gives me to interact with the artists I love and share with you here on the site. It doesn't happen with alarming frequency, but I love getting the chance to interact with artists in the studio, live, on the air, to hear their stories and their songs in a one-on-one setting. Friday, it happened twice. Boca Chica and Rebecca Pronsky are two artists I've featured a few times on the site, and both [...]

Something new from Rebecca Pronsky coming in April. This song "Mercury News" is a soaring, slightly twangy, sad tale of a woman who accepts her role as neither someone's wife nor someone's daughter. Rebecca is continueing the fine tradition of rootsy music coming out of unusual locales - namely Brooklyn. It's that metropolitan location that makes her songs stand a bit apart from her Nashville cohorts. Listen for Rebecca on World Cafe on March 11. Mercury News

Hidden Shoal Recordings has announced the digital pre-release of the forthcoming sophomore album On Holiday by New York's shadowy lounge-pop maestro Rich Bennett . Influenced by the classic exotica of Martin Denny, the aching folk-pop of Fleet Foxes, and the conceptual sweep of The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle, On Holiday is, on the surface, ‘a day in the life of a vacation’. Brimming with delicious breezy melodies and the buoyant vocals of both Bennett and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Rebecca Pronsky, the optimistic side of the album is typified by gorgeous [...]
