Seein' the Scene is a (typically) weekly photographic presentation featuring images from some of the best local rock concerts Minnesota has to offer. These images are captured through the lens of Minneapolis rock photographer Mike Minehart. We welcome comments. More images from these shows can often be viewed at www.mikeminehart.com. One of the great things about being involved in the Contrast Podcast is getting the chance to take part in the annual Contrast Podcast CD Swap. This year was the first time I'd been involved, and the theme was Letters of The Alphabet. I got the letter V and made a CD for Chris over at phosphorous.net all about the tunes of the Vagabond - my music library, while pretty darn good in many ways, did not offer enough variety in the V department, so I was required to get a little more creative. The CD that I [...]

It seriously tastes like Nutrasweet made a drink called Chilled Sweet Piss. I cannot explain why I'm still drinking it while I type this. So I won't. Random Thought #.56 - If JCPenny took a shit, it would be Kohls . I work on Thanksgiving, how sweet is that? Almost as sweet as this nasty iced coffee I'm drinking, bleach! I will be seeing M.I.A. in concert though. I'm happy about that. [...]
Sorry for the absence of the podcast this weekend, but I was beat and couldn't get myself to get it done when I got off work on Saturday. In fact, I spent the majority of the weekend doing nothing but eating, napping and watching movies and the NFL. It was awesome and refreshing. I'm ready to get back to the grind today though, and I'm going to do so by posting up the artists that were meant to be in the podcast. Enjoy. Nicky Click, the Trolleyvox, Sambassadeur, Black Tie, the [...]
Bag of Songs gets a new header photo and has a nice post about a soul singer in a session band, oh wait, no she is the band! If you are in the Chicago area this Sunday, the 16th (Sarah and Marc, this means you guys), give Craig over at Songs:IL an email and got to his house for an intimate concert with Late Greats Fav (and my personal favorite performance from this year's Musikfest) Eilen Jewell. (Been cleaning up my inbox…) MP3s I got yesterday that were [...]
It's been forever since I visited some of my own favorite music blogs, so it was decided to make the rounds on a couple of occasions last week. One of the more fortunate of these adventures was to MFR where I found plenty of good stuff including today's featured artist. Red Fox Grey Fox is a pop threaded, indie rock quartet consisting of Peter Miller (vocals, guitar, keys), Jeremiah
It's finally raining in Minneapolis. We've had pretty bad drought conditions for a while now, so the past two days of rain are welcome. I've also been enjoying the rain simply because it's been a while since I've had a nice, lazy day. Red Fox Grey Fox's music is meant for days like this. Red Fox Grey Fox - Building A Building. These guys are on Say Rah Records, a new label co-run by the same guy who runs Afternoon Records. And yes, they are all guys: the lead singer Peter Miller has something of a high voice. As City...
