Red Lights . Revamped and re-energized. Red Lights is a segment where I can quickly run through the tracks remixes and electronic sounds that caught my ear but didn’t quite catch my tongue…Red Lights to make you stop and listen. -

I KNOW THE CHIEF are a Melbourne five piece, formerly making up the outfit Passport . Creating a real summery, replenishing sound, the dudes have been making waves on Triple J Unearthed scoring some digital radio airplay, and released their No Cigar EP last December. Constantly playing shows locally, the boys aren't keen to stop anytime soon, as they are the Evelyn Hotel's May residents; therefore will be playing a show every week at the said venue of this month! Considering all of [...]

If you're thinking of coming across to Europe in the middle of year, and want a music fix, do not look past this unique experience on offer in Serbia. As a majority of you will be heading towards Croatia (which I am) and love music, EXIT Festival is only a short ride across in a bus from most Euro locations, with four days of sensational bands, for a fraction of the price back home. ABOUT EXIT: EXIT Festival has come a long way in the last 12 years. Evolving from the student protests [...]
I’ve noticed in our remodeling that there is a void in my inbox where some tracks don’t quite fit the Shorthanded Goals mold, yet they don’t quite require or elicit a full feature. Basically, they are great tracks – I just can’t find the words or time to praise and describe. I’ve thought about this and I figured why not post up a little segment where I can quickly run through the tracks that caught my ear but didn’t quite catch my tongue…Red Lights to make you slow and stop what you’re doing to [...]
Though Barrett Richards has been releasing forward-thinking music under the moniker of Kastle for over three years now, Tuesday marked the release of his self-titled debut album Kastle - a 15-track odyssey of warping, vocal-driven bass music. With countless tempos represented, Kastle oscillates between slower 2-step jams and more upbeat, garage-centric productions. The culmination is an awe-inspiring first album playing off the sonic signatures of the past with a futuristic vision in mind. Having seen Kastle open for 12th Planet three years ago in Los Angeles (a strange combination in [...]

Redlight - “Switch It Off”

Less than an hour ago, Kastle debuted a preview of the second single from his forthcoming album featuring LA-based artist, JMSN . The slinky smooth ballad is the first of two collaborations between the two producers that will be present on Kastle ’s self-titled record. And to offer a little background on the evolution of Barrett Richard’s musical repertoire, have a listen to one of his tracks from back in 2009 when he went by B. Rich . See previously: [...]

In anticipation of his first full-length record due out on April 23rd, Kastle has taken on Janet Jackson’s “Love Will Never Do” acapella and come through with a swinging, undeniably groovy house tune. “Red Light,” which featured Ayah Marar , was the first single to drop from Kastle ’s forthcoming self-titled LP. The second, “Make You Stay,” featuring JMSN , will be available April 1st. See previously: Kastle | Red Light ft. Ayah Marar alh [...]

San Francisco producer Kastle does not get as much credit as he deserves, yet something tells me that's all about to change. Though the dubstep/garage producer has been putting out forward-thinking bass music for over two years now, his latest productions have an air of legitimacy that can't be ignored. "Red Light" is the first single off of Kastle's forthcoming album, and it's one of his best productions yet. Aided by the vocal assistance of London's Ayah Marar, "Red Light" is an engrossing house track swirling with delectable future garage vibes. If "Red Light" is any indication of the quality [...]
