Sharp toothed electro pop from the college that housed MGMT. Red Wire Black Wire fits this special place in my heart for almost cookie cutter pop that breaks the mold. The edgy bass on Locked Out says MGMT, the guitar wails call to mind the best of "those British pop acts" (or maybe Tokyo Police Club) and the synth stabs add the final delicious ingredient to a perfect pop smoothie. A band we've loved for some time now has a new record scheduled for November 25th - RED WIRE BLACK WIRE - on a new label called Tough Customer out of San Francisco. Not only do those guys have great ears, they know how to work a band. The band is based in Brooklyn and they've already given taste tests on RCRDLBL.com as well as tour dates with MGMT and SANTOGOLD. Can't say that we really know much about this band. There's all of one article about them on the whole internet. Their MySpace page describes their sound as the saddest dance party. They mixed their EP at the studio where Interpol and The National hang their hats. While there, it is reported that they made "the bass more bangy and the treble more shiny and the delay more repeaty."
