Daft Punk.
Redshape's forthcoming release Red Pack II on Delsin records is comprised mainly of quality industrial and sci-fi laden techno. 'Disco Marauder' delivers the classic Redshape sound with buzzing and bleeping beats and a great ethereal synth line that runs throughout. There are also elements of the EP, such as the track 'Daft Mode', nod to classic Detroit with its tough mechanical chords and feel
After a storming 4th Birthday party, THEM are back with another stellar lineup at London's Corsica Studios. Brining the man with the red mask, Redshape, to Elephant & Castle's finest... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

As another weekend comes to a close, I thought that it might be nice to turn down the Blouse thermostat a little and feature a couple of tracks that are a touch mellower than our recent fare. Although the names Redshape and Marcel Fengler might put images of packed clubs and sweaty walls into your mind, I assure you - these two new tracks are just lovely. Redshape is a fellow that wears a red mask to his gigs. How do you [...]
"The double-header is a fitting end to what has been an intriguing and enjoyable debut for The Hydra series and what can only be described as a pre-cursor of what’s to come for Broken &... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

[ Running Back ] Square is a slow burn. Distinctly less immediate than Sebastian Kramer's previous previous LP as Redshape, The Dance Paradox , the German producer's latest develops his sound in a more insular direction. Its radiation-battered landscape calls to mind Kode9 & The Spaceape's Black Sun , but Square 's individual tracks are better integrated into [...]

Have you wrapped your head around the fact that it will be next year in just over 7 weeks? And can you believe that it is nearly Christmas? I bet you haven't even thought about what gifts you will be getting for your loved ones. I have. Here's what I came up with: I've had my eye on wily Swedes Jonsson/Alter for some time now. Their brand of warm, atmospheric electronica & deep house always goes down well - especially on [...]

Redshape , the man in the red mask, is set to release his new album "Square" at the end of November and as always with his work, those with a taste for the left of centre will find plenty to keep them happy within its duration. By way of a taster you can grab "Atlantic" from the long-player below, a lovely spacey slab of techno packed with percussion and loaded with melancholy melodies throughout. Over the last few years we've seen a resurgence of the underground electronic music scene, new genres such as UK funky and dubstep have risen and now spiral towards a more commercial future. At the beginning artists like Martyn were laying down mixes that crossed genre borders of these new scenes while still keep home base firmly weighted towards a techno and house vibe. From such beginnings labels were started such as 3024 and Numbers that aimed to cater for those who like music from many different sources and styles. So after [...]
A bunch of people have emailed me recently asking for some of the mixes that were hosted on this blog throughout the years. As I mentioned already before, all posts prior to February 2011 are gone. Anyway, here's what I was able to recover from the archives: Rhythm & Sound - Live at P.S. 1 Warm Up, NYC (2006-09-02) ( D/L ) Mountain People DJs - Live on Rundfunk FM (2007-08-04) ( D/L ) Daft Punk - Live at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, NY (2007-08-09) [...]

The final hurrah for Ann Aimee's Inertia compilation sees four modern techno heavyweights add their exclusive sounds to the fold. Recent album stars Skudge are as economical yet efficient as you'd expect with their booming 'Pollution,' before Conforce designs yet more lush sounds with his deep technoid cut 'When It Appeared.' Restless Romainian Cosmin TRG confounds expectationst again with his rusty, rolling cut 'Plaisir Interdit' before Fachwerk co-founder Sascha Rydell gets a little spaced out on his kinetic and melancholic effort, 'Rainy Days'. Stand out on its own, but peerless when paired with the other three parts, Inertia 4 ends [...]

Laut Veranstalter ist das allererste Bürgerpflicht: "Kassem Mosse rocked up to Boiler Room with enough equipment to give a small African township fresh water for a year. [...]

Jasper Goodall , "Desert Mirror" [ Present ] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) There has been a focus on purist techno and house in recent years, but most of the resultant output is utterly derivative of white-knuckle Millsian fury, Downwards industrialisms or classic j-j-j-jacking Chicago tracks. Redshape doesn't fit into any of these narratives, preferring to draw on the deep techno sounds of Detroit as a starting point; but unlike many of his new school purist peers, the masked one [...]

Photo by Markku Lahdesmaki [ Laid ] ( buy vinyl ) I'm never quite sure what goes into an artist's decision to start a new alias. Some reserve certain monikers for certain labels, others tie these assumed identities to different sounds. Palisade is a new production name for everyone's favorite red-masked techno superhero, Redshape, and yet it doesn't sound like a particularly big departure for him sonically. Best defer to the man himself here: so what? Regardless of whether [...]

At the start of this month, Poker Flat released the great compilation Forward to the Past featuring big name artist's such as The Revenge, Sasse, Deetron KiNK & Neville Watson and more. This techno number is from Berlins Redshape and it's slowly becoming one of my favourites out of them all. If you can't read what the cover says, the whole release was actually mastered the way on analog tape, and I've heard some of these tracks out in the club lately and the production really is off the hook. [...]

[Kontra-Musik] (buy vinyl 1 / 2 / 3 ) (buy mp3s tk) The Swedish producer Andreas Tilliander has long been a shapeshifter in electronic music. Under numerous names, he's been instrumental in the development of "clicks & cuts" with Mille Plateaux and ambient IDM under the Mokira name. After being nominated twice, he won a Swedish Grammy for his album World Industries in 2005. His reach extended into mastering and running a label, both under the name Repeatle. His brand of richly layered, thick electronics carries over in [...]
