Waking up at a festival isn't too tough. Waking up, opening your tent and realizing you're in the "overflow" (a cute word that covers up the debauchery of the gypsy camp, ghetto-like, if you will, atmosphere of the place) is the tough part. A few sun-burnt party-kids passed out over here, an absurdly large pile of empty beer cans and garbage over there, and, not so far off, music from a stereo plays songs made amazing on stage the previous day; the wonderful few that will attempt the ever so lofty goal of the "Four-day-no-sleep-rock-the-fr ee-world-or-die-trying", still going strong. photo by Brittney Bollay Opening a main stage at a festival can be a daunting task, especially for a band that isn't used to playing festivals. " This is a little different than our basement," noted singer Galen Disston, "but we're really honored to be here." Lucky for Pickwick , a legion of fans rushed to the front of the stage, and with their support, Pickwick tore through a set of groove-based rock that started the day off with a bang. Their energy was high and their musicianship was tight, so by the time they [...]

Day one was the easy day. You managed to arrive (maybe you managed to the night before, odds aren't that way though) and you enjoyed your first night. You'd set up your tent (Oh, did we forget to mention to set up the tent before you head to the festival? If not, we should have, doing it in the pitch black lit only by sparse lamps and headlights may not have been smart), and you may have been a little cold. But you now know to huddle and drink enough to keep warm. Today's really [...]
(It's a long one, watch out) SPIRITUALIZED, NIKKI LANE ( Wonder Ballroom , 128 NE Russell) Read our article on Spiritualized. HERE WE GO MAGIC, HOSPITALITY ( Bunk Bar , 1028 SE Water) Hospitality are a decidedly New York band, but some Pacific Northwest magic has nevertheless made its way in their purposeful, methodical pop. The band recorded its first EP with the help of [...]

Here is a collection of tracks that have found their way into our in-box or on to our iTunes one way or another recently, and which deserve far more time and effort spent on them than we are currently able to give. Plenty to soundtrack your Friday with. Brooklyn's indie pop three-piece Violens have just released their second LP, True , on Slumberland Records. The album's first single, Totally True , has a dreamy stone-washed feel, celebrating bands like Cocteau Twins and The Chameleons . a [...]

Reptar's unique nature is immediately evident through their masterful representation of the Windows 3.1 browser system on their website http://reptarmusic.com/ . Their new album Body Faucet (released May 1) is a welcome follow up to their debut EP Oblangle Fizz Y'all which left me just wanting more. 5 tracks just simply wasn't enough and Body Faucet delivers. Their live show is one of the most talked about aspects of this group so if you're hitting Sasquatch this year this band is a must see.
Arrows, sky, fruit and funky camera effects.
Reptar 's new video for "Sebastian" is like some sort of Roman (or Greek, if you prefer) paradise. Togas. Grapes. They're all there! You can check it out above.

Reptar unveil the video for their single "Sebastian". Directed by Deadhorse, Ben Fries and Jesse Cain (who have also created memorable promos for the likes of Kindness, Holy Ghost, and Theophilus London), the clip combines performance footage of Reptar's lead singer Graham Ulicny , shot from several angles simultaneously to create a surreal and cubistic effect, with living tableaus. The tableaus depict the story of Saint Sebastian, the Christian saint and martyr and earliest gay icon, who was tied to a tree and shot with arrows before ultimately being clubbed [...]

If you're reading this and you happen to be in the business of conflict resolution , international peacekeeping , treatise negotiating , etc.: today is your lucky day. I genuinely don't believe it's possible for two people to listen to California Wives together and not just start smiling and playing with each other's hair. "Marianne" is the perfect rebuttal to your crotchety neighbor's claims that the world today is too complicated and busy, the perfect retardant to the flames fanned by scaremongers on TV. It's a natural juice cleanse in song form, one so satisfying [...]

As I had to write a paper this semester on the influence of New Order, I was very intrigued to find out Georgia superstars Reptar , performed a cover of their 1983 hit "Age of Consent". Lots of more raspy vocals and screaming going on, which I enjoy very much. Make sure to get their very solid debut LP, Body Faucet .

New kids on the block Reptar have not long ago released their full-length debut, Body Faucet via Vagrant Records. Today though we get a different cut from the band as they offer up an impressive sounding cover of New Order's " Age of Consent " which featured on their 1983 album Power, Corruption & Lies.

Orifice Origami - Reptar // Buy Sebastian - Reptar // Buy Georgia four-piece Reptar (@reptarathens) often seem to embody their namesake. While they may not be prehistoric, animated or green, they do evoke a sense of fun with a slight twist of nostalgia thrown in for good measure. The group first made a major name for themselves at 20112s SXSW festival, where, during their scheduled performances and a few impromptu house party gigs, they introduced the world to their renewable [...]
