The first show of the night at CMW 2012 took place at the Silver Dollar Room. I was there to see Montreal's Reversing Falls . It was part of Last Year's Men 's triple night showcase. It's been awhile since I last saw my favorite explosive alterna-pop garage rock guitar fuzz band from Montreal. This time they had Jamie Thompson (ex-Unicorns/ex-Islands/Hidden Words) drumming for them. Despite the sound difficulties, I really enjoyed their set. They did dedicate a song to me (which [...]

Canadian Music Week got off to a slow start for me this year, but I consider it a good one. My Thursday night was comprised of seeing two bands from Montreal who are on the cusp of promising careers and put on great sets to prove it. At 8 p.m. Reversing Falls opened for a long bill at the Silver Dollar, showing off their scrappy ways and getting their first real introduction to a Toronto crowd who helped push the buzz for them around the city all week. The foursome seemed to come straight out of [...]

Reversing Falls - "Curse This Place" . You do not undo a thing by saying, F*ck this thing! You do not destroy a land by damning it. Reversing Falls grit their teeth, charge their guitars, but they know they cannot unmake the place they are cursing. It is bigger than they are, crueller, fiercer and louder and more motherfucking killer. That is what makes it worthy of cursing. As a band cowers in a basement rehearsal space, chugging, singing, spending one guitar-pick after another, the city stands permanent and beautiful around them. Its skyline is ambivalent, and its [...]
No freaks and ghouls in today's post, just freakishly good rock from Montreal's Reversing Falls . They are getting ready to follow up their previous EPs with a self-titled debut album at the end of January, and have offered up a tantalising treat in the form of first single, "Is This Thing On?" It's the kind of precision-crafted guitar pop that you'd be happy to find in your loot bag after a night of dressing up and cavorting around the block with your best buddies. Reversing Falls just wrapped up a Canadian tour [...]
"Is This Thing On?" is a wailing tune and a perfect blend of lo-fi and guitar-driven rock. Reversing Falls, a Montreal-based trio, present tenacious riffs and heavy drum-machine beats sure to stop you in your tracks. The band's self-titled debut LP is due out January 24 via Pigeon Row. Download "Is This Thing On?" below. "Is This Thing [...]

On to Day 2 of Pop Montreal 2011. Before attending this "free show" that everyone is still talking about. I went to Le Divan Orange (again) for this day show that was run by Passovah . There were four great acts that played. Stranger (formerly Owl Loris) Thomas (who was a last minute addition because Duzheknew was stuff in Halifax) [...]
![[Listen/Download] Reversing Falls- Is This Thing On?](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3739472_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Check out this new single by Montreal's Reversing Falls. There's a somewhat withheld chaos that I love about this song. It's fuzzy, but controlled in that there isn't too much fuzz. There's noise clusters, but still a recognizable and catchy hook. IS THIS THING ON? Under 2000 listens on Last.fm? Let's fix that. You can download the track below as well as older works on their Bandcamp for Free . Reversing Falls- Is This Thing On?

I am very excited this week because I am going to be heading down to Montreal for Pop Montreal . This is their 10th year in existence. Montreal's Reversing Falls are preparing to release their self-titled debut full length album in January. The record was produced by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Timber Timbre). They've just made the first single, "Is This Thing On?", available for listening. Reversing Falls play the Silver Dollar in Toronto on September 29th.

Ok, it's Thursday and we're back on our regular Video Hits grind (a lot of people on the internet describe their internetting with various uses of "grind", so I thought I'd try it - not a successful trial I don't think) with our usual eclectic selection of Canadian clips. We posted " Doom Beach " from MTL's Reversing Falls early this year , and I'm a fan of the song, so I was happy to put their new video for it up. And what a video it is. There's a lot [...]
Montreal-based guitar rock trio Reversing Falls have a new video out. The clip is for the track "Doom Beach", which is the flipside of their "Little Goodbye/Doom Beach" single. Check it out here: Reversing Falls are currently putting the final touches on an album that we should see before the end of 2011.

I'll be the first to admit, I've put knives in some strange places (sorry grandma) but this prior experience didn't prepare me for the shock I would receive when I came to the Reversing Falls Tumblr Page . Why had I never thought of that? Reversing Falls are a Canadian trio made up of Tyler Crawford (lead vocals, guitar), Jesse Ash (bass/drum machine programming/backing vocals) and Charlie Neufeld (lead rhythm guitar/backing vocals). Their track "Little Goodbye" kicked off our One Ring Mix [...]

With no disrespect towards boxing and wrestling, promise, piston, compression or Olympic rings there really is one ring that rules them all. That is the one made from onions, battered and covered in ketchup (wedding ones are also up there). Onion Rings were, for the longest time, one of my most hated things (right up there with Combos). When I was a tiny lad, I spent an afternoon with my grandmother and brother watching my cousins play baseball. After the game we went to a hole in the wall diner and I ate onion rings for the first time. Later [...]
