As California's sound savvy Abe Vigoda put's out their new EP, Reviver , they'll be drifting away from their "tropical punk" categorization. It was an attention-grabbing phrase, and the sound was fun while it lasted, but 'Vigoda's got something much more melodic, heavy, and deep waiting in the cannon. Abe Vigoda's latest EP is a blissful marriage of post-post punk and TV On The Radio pop misgivings. The first track "Don't Lie" is a crisp three minutes. The first thing of note is the vocals as they are very K Records but they bring together those wild and whimsical TV On The Radio harmonies. "House" is a jangly tune but still manages to have some bite to it. "Wild Heart" shows the band pull out a more progressive sound with this slow burning track.
