Recently, Adrian Lux has been described as a 'rising Swedish producer.' Funny thing is, he's been rising for years , not just since 2011. Starting the year off with his beautiful remix of Rebecca & Fiona's ' Bullets ,' anlong with DJ/producer Nause , Lux's work has stood strong along side his Swedish countrymen, who have dominated the house music landscape. Rebecca & Fiona, also of Sweden, have ascended through their country's alternative music scene. Their work in 2011 has been right up there with Swedish vocalist like Robyn or Tove [...]
The Gears, RF-7, Symbol Six, The Livingstons, Spermometer, Standard & Poor The Blue Star Cafe, Los Angeles, CA Saturday, July 30, 2011 This was a very cool night. A Strange Reaction reader, Anders, and now friend contacted me about a month or two back saying that he and his family would be coming to America from Denmark and could we meet up. Sounded cool. I've met some great people from this site and some people that might need to be locked up (No, I don't want to buy any of Rozz [...]

Eleven Continents RF & Lili De La Mora teamed up in 2007 to create this delicate and gentle album that never captured the attention it deserved. So I thought I would share it and who knows... Through The Trees Listen/Buy Eleven Continents

We're in the midst of an Australia electronic music revolution. There is no shortage of talent on the continent right now, that's for sure. From Miami Horror to Cut Copy to Cassian and everyone in between, the past 6 months have seen Australia establish itself at the forefront of the electronic and indie dance scene, and we are all so much the better for it. RUFUS - Paris Collides The latest Australian export to catch our eye is RÜFÜS , a three-piece indie [...]
I like pleasant surprises, and RÜFÜS definitely fall into the very pleasant surprises category. Turning up early before another gig, I was blown away by them playing as the second supporting act of the night. Combined with a stellar stage presence, big things are expected of this Sydney three-piece. Very new onto the scene, the founding members, Jon George and Tyron Lindqvist, were drawn together by mutual friends, and got to work on writing their musical infant in the tranquil Byron Bay in early 2010. The fruit of their labour is a beautiful merging of dance, folk, [...]

Photo by Annie Leibovitz, pictured Ryan Adams It's funny how a nothing artist can walk into their career on the back of a remix. They can step on the face of an artist drop a baseline onto their hard work and make a reputation let alone a career off it. These are going to hurt . . . Today I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce an exciting new project, consisting of SoCal trio Fiero and Germany's Digitalfoxglove . Their name is Ride The Universe , and the sounds that they've been contriving so far are simply out of this world. Collaborating from across the globe, they are riding the tech universe to fulfill our dreamy, groovy, funky sonic needs. Demonstrated by Postal Service and countless others, physical distance is obviously no a insurmountable obstacle in collaboration these days. Technology is pretty crazy. Even as I write [...]

RUFUS - We Left (Ride The Universe Remix) "An intragalactic, cross-continental collaboration between Germany's Digitalfoxglove and Southern California's Fiero." This short, nondescript, piece of information is literally all I know about the electronic band Ride The Universe. Well, that's not totally true. I also know that this band makes some of the best remixes I've heard from this side of the galaxy in a while. Their edits of songs exude an aura of smoothness that is contagiously funky and easy to dance to. Nothing they do seems too rushed or forced. Their inclusion of electric guitar [...]

I've got some awesome tunes here to calm your wrecked nerves and soothe your post-weekend hangover. Rufus droppped this in my inbox nearly a week back but I'm was too busy to post this. It's chilled doped-up dance made for the 3am crowd - what makes this extra special is that the calming spirituality that is contained within the sampled sounds sounds of the forest and beach spills out into the atmosphere exquisitely. It's like swimming in dreams. Fans of Friendly Fires , The Stills , Foals etc will love this. [...]

What's good everyone, hope you all had a killer weekend. The last week or so has been a bit of a blur, but in the midst of all the madness I picked up some new tunes that are worth sharing immediately. The new Sydney synth pop outfit RÜFÜS released their debut self-titled EP on January 1st, and while I'm admittedly a little late discovering it, I've really been digging their sound. I'm not sure what it is about Australia that produces such great dreamy, 80s synth-pop inspired bands, but RÜFÜS seems poised to join Midnight Juggernauts, The Presets [...]

Here's a tip we received from Franck Freak You of On the Fruit Records. RÜFÜS is an Australian band that recently released a self-titled EP on their own Monekeleon label (buy it on iTunes ). They make electropop music, but with rather unorthodox methods as they like to sample different sounds from the beach or the forest. This gives their music some sort of organic feel to it. As they're also personal friends with Franck, they have joined forces with a club version of "We Left" coming out in a few months with remixes [...]

El fin de semana pasado me llegó un mail con rolas de una banda llamada RÜFÜS, son otra banda de Australia. Acá les dejo "We Left". ♩ RÜFÜS - We Left
(Our photo uploader is acting up, so I apologize for the lack of visual aid for this one). Here are two tracks from a new project called "Rufus". Here's what they have to say about themselves: Rufus is - "A new Sydney outfit gearing up for a massive live show and EP for the approaching summer... A mix of live percussion, samples and synthesisers pulsate a lo-fi groove with melodic round lead lines, bass and sparkling vocals." These tracks (especially "We Left") definitely sound like they will be the soundtrack for many [...]
Photography: Alberto Polo Iañez RüFüS is a electronic indie trio from Sydney, who released their debut EP this month. Don't judge by the name though: as fishy as it looks, as good as their music actually is. If you like the songs below, hear and/or buy the rest for yourself at their Bandcamp ;) RüFüS - Paris Collides RüFüS - Nocturnal

We Left (EP Preview) by RÜFÜS

Remember when you heard The Presets for the first time? Your first Cut Copy side show or Van She sway? Well get ready to relive those ectasy indie-pop moments with three piece Sydney/Australian outfit RÜFÜS . Introducing tangible and organic 'noises' from forests and beaches while combining those with studio spec sounds RÜFÜS presents something different and new for 2011 in a way of 'spiritual, dancefloor or chill-out' vibe while retaining a them and only them sound. Also having friends in French places means 'We Left' will be getting a euro club ep expose in a couple [...]

As every brand new project, RÜFÜS came out from a friendship story and started with some fun in a studio towards the end of 2010. The three friends involved started to write some songs and to sample "noise" directly from the forest and the beach; you can clearly hear this on most of the tracks. The sound can be spiritual, dancefloor or chill-out, but it always sounds like RÜFÜS ; half intrinsic, half technologic. They're also good friends with the French disco/electro label, On The Fruit Records , with whom they are planning [...]
