photo by Virgil Solis Rhymefest took the stage at Sub-T on Saturday night. Che kicked off his set with a new freestyle over Common's "Sweet", in which he expressed his disappointment with political engagement, and also dubbed himself underground and under-rated. Rhymefest has been a little quiet musically since running for Alderman last year, but will be more active in the coming months leading into his new LP, Motorcycle Diarie s. Typically you'll catch me posting my appearance on Tony Sculfield & The Morning Riot's After Party , but today Tony and the gang had on a special guest: Rhymefest. They go in on a lot of interesting topics here. Social issues, hip-hop and much more.

The Internet doth provide, once again, and today an outtake reel of Kanye's never-optioned Comedy Central puppet pilot Alligator Boots surfaced. The show, which was devised with then-Kanye cohort Rhymefest in 2009 (according to IMDB ), features a cast of puppets engaging in all sorts of ribaldry, humping, cursing, and dropping explicit pick-up lines on Princess Leia, who is naturally played by Kim Kardashian. Too bad Avenue Q , Crank Yankers , and The Chappelle Show just barely beat them to the punch here. And by barely, I mean by at [...]
Back in 2008, long before Tyler, the Creator and company ever dreamed of television stardom , jack of all trades Kanye West teamed up with fellow Chicago MC Rhymefest and the producers behind Comedy Central's Crank Yankers for another profanity-laced freaky puppet show entitled Alligator Boots . Sadly, nothing came of the project that was sure to be a gangsta rap version of The Muppets . That was, however, until now. Below in all its comedic glory is a 10-minute behind-the-scenes look at the show. With everything from Kim Kardashian [...]
You might remember a few years back that Kanye West and Rhymefest were working on putting together their own profane puppet show, Alligator Boots , for Comedy Central. Unfortunately for the Chicago natives and their fans, it never came to fruition. And all we're left with is this nearly nine-minute video of behind-the-scenes footage from the set shot by Konee Rok. The video includes a bit where Kim Kardashian is dressed up as Princess Leia, Yeezy and Fest discussing possible sketch ideas, and why they inevitably chose to hook up with the producers of [...]
Shot, chopped and directed by Konee Rok. Some of you may recall that Rhymefest and Kanye West were working on a show for Comedy Central a while ago, but it never got picked up. Here we have some behind the scenes footage of 'Ye, Rhymefest, Kim Kardashian, Jimmy Kimmel and a host of others as they work on the pilot. Am I the only one who thinks that this would've been pretty dope?

What happened to the Wale in the picture below? The guy that was dynamic, and stood out from the pack, and was in league with those also pictured above? Who in 2009 all of sudden transformed. The guy had one of the most talked about Mixtapes since... I can't even remember a mixtape as well received by everyone as A Mixtape About Nothin g, had management from Roc Nation , a few notable co-signs, hosted MTV Music Awards with his UCB band, was [...]
Salute to everyone involved in this program. I'll let Javin have the floor: The Power of Sound is a music workshop that provides Chicago Public Schools' students, involved in the Mentor Advocacy Program, with hands on experience with music industry professionals in an effort to develop and hone their musical talents and industry experience. This most recent session was run from Sound Scape Studios. Participants worked closely with artists such as Mikkey Halsted, Rhymefest, Kaye Fox, and veteran producer Xcel. Engineers Corey Martin, Mike Kolar and Boogz provided technical assistance and insight. Radio/Promotions veteran, Jerome Kemp [...]
Earlier today, Rhymefest took to his Twitter account to defend 'Ye after Consequence's comments on WGCI Friday morning about 'Fest, GLC and Really Doe being hush about Kanye's wrongdoings. KANYE and I been speaking lately it interesting I see people who think he owes them stuff. I never understood letting another human have control over your success or failure in life. My brotherhood with Ye is based in the fact I don't beg or expect more then his friendship good convo and the exchange of ideas. We bounce rhymes and music off [...]

This afternoon, El Che was unknowingly dragged into the middle of a beef between Kanye West and his former artist Consquence. In Consequence's "Puppet Master" video, Cons alleged that Kanye robbed Rhymefest of his style and career (although it's not 100% certain what Cons is accusing here), while going on to take shots at Don C, Fonzworth Bentley and others. When asked about the incident, Fest took to Twitter to respond in the form of a rhyme - one that will be featured on his upcoming project Courtesy of Chicago: [...]
