It's funny running a blog site. Sitting in front of your computer typing in html ect is prrrretty antisocial but then at other times you can be on the opposite side of the continent and meet actual people who read which can be really rewarding. Even more so when said people are suuper awesome / not wearing afflication / tapout and are hanging out at the raddest parties. Meet Rifle Recoil ... Rifle Recoil - Happy Birthday Girl
My penchant for music accumulation (obviously) didn't end while we were working through our Best of 2009 lists. By the mere nature of making lists, some music is simply acquired too late to be considered; other tracks don't fit into any specific ordering. But over the past month I've heard a few tracks that I [...]

Speaking of squirreling away nuts, which is what all the little fuzzy rats should be doing right about now, here's a few cuts I've been holding, looking for an excuse to dig out and post . . . Beast of Burden and Sweet Jane (Rolling Stones & Velvet Underground Covers)-The Kooks Prototype (OutKast cover)-Rifle Recoil Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)-Winter Gloves

Forever relevant, the play has stuck with me since I first saw it as a child. Here's a classic line from Pozzo: Have you not done tormenting me with your accursed time! It's abominable! When! When! One day, is that not enough for you, one day he went dumb, [...]
by kevin diamond So after my post on Darlings last week, I got this e-mail This is Joe, I play bass in Darlings (the one whose house burnt down). I run a record label with my roommate, and we just put out our first release. It's from a guy from Arlington, VA who goes by Rifle Recoil ... We pressed 1000 copies of his album, but only about 200 are still in existence after the fire. It's up [...]
Happy Easter everyone. I took in a show at the Boot in Norfolk on Friday and this fella blew me away. He appears fairly unassuming. Tallish with an explosion of red hair. Shy looking. He sits down with a guitar and a looping machine and proceeds to construct these echoing soundscapes of harmony and guitar parts and beat-boxed drums occasionally. Then he sang over top of it, pure molassas and honey. And the crowd goes wild. Listen: Anybody [from Lion EP| buy ] Prototype [from [...]
