NYC-based Riley is currently gearing up for his upcoming EP release Ruins , and in doing so has unleashed this track "Rumors" in anticipation. We're familiar with the cross-genre lyricist in the past, always appreciated his experimental tendencies and knack for mixing it up a bit. In this latest case, he makes use of the Adele single for the drum and vocal sample to give his own take on trials with the opposite sex - stay tuned for more... Download: "Rumors" [...]
Bronx-based Riley let loose his latest mixtape Nobody's Perfect a couple days ago, and as a follow up to his Fall compilation the Collapse EP , this bit's a fantastic compliment. The array of music we've featured thus far paint a diverse picture of musical interests and experimentation, ranging from the rock or pop-fused production of Collapse to the more traditional hip hop flavor of this latest piece. Download: Riley - "Entree" While [...]

Welcome to Wild Weekend #50, the Golden Jubilee edition, yessir. Me oh my, how the time does fly and all that. Yassassin ! This week we´ve got a fine oldie from Gillian Welch for you, a cool countryrock re-release, a postpunk krautrocker, and that´s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg of course. We´ll start off this milestone edition with the Thin White Duke, if only because Yassassin means ´long live´ in Turkish. A groovy immigrant song from Lodger , Bowie´s last really great album and [...]
The singer/songwriter is making big waves as he releases his new single Sergeant Smash at the end of January. The 20 year old artist has been around for a while, having written songs for Chipmunk including "Oopsy Daisy", "Look For Me" and a further 2 tracks on Chip's album "I am Chipmunk". He's made his way across the USA, working with some of the finest producers and writers. Sergeant Smash is set to be big when released. Take a listen to the acoustic version [...]
Terrific 1971 country-rock obscurity with Gary Stewart Record thrifters know the thrill of discovering a previously unknown recording that’s both a missing piece of history and worthwhile spin on its musical merits. Crate diggers and vault anthropologists continue to make incredible discoveries, and such is this obscure 1971 album. Pressed by the band in an edition of 500, it was sold at shows in upper Michigan and quickly disappeared into the collections of band members, families, friends and fans. Its claims to fame are several: it’s an early example of country, rock and soul [...]

I've always been a sucker for the boozy lamentations, perfect hair, and sorrowful, wavering croon of popular country's tragic superstar, Gary Stewart . When I heard Delmore Recordings had unearthed one of Gary's first projects, a 500 LP hand-stamped private-pressing recorded during after-hour sessions at Bradley's Barn in 1970, well who could resist. Nashville writing partners and recording assistants, Gary Stewart (who would hit it big in the later 70s with "She's Acting Single, I'm Drinking Doubles" and "Drinkin' Thing") and Bill Eldridge invited Michigan's Riley Watkins, Jim Snead, and Jim Noveskey to experiment during their free studio [...]
This episode of "The Boondocks" is self-explanatory. When I seen this episode for the first time the expression on my face was the same as Granddad's .....Enjoy, if you can!! The episode followed Uncle Ruckus, who is known as the most racist character on the show, and this episode certainly lived up to those expectations. However, despite his racism, he is generally regarded as a hilarious, cooky, but well meaning uncle of our main characters. His racism is much more satire (as the entire show is) than it is just for comical relief. In [...]
Here's episode 3, the interesting thing about this episode is that since man was able compete in sports this is how they would settle their differences, throw some women in the equation and this is what you get LOL.....Enjoy!! Ed Wuncler makes a bet with the Chinese business mogul in a kickball game with the residents of Woodcrests against the Chinese team. As what the episode’s preview showed, Huey wears Kanye West glasses and a Louis Vuitton driving shoe kicking the ball with extreme force. [...]
Like I promised, here's another episode from the ever-funny "The Boondocks." This episode reminds me of Ice T and his choice words for Soulja boy, the Auto-Tuners, and Flavor Flav LOL. Watch and enjoy!! Thugnificent’s new album does not sell well and in order to make money he has to do the one thing that scares him the most. He has to get a real job. Leeds duo Riley & Durrant have been on the electronic music scene for almost ten years. Starting as residents at the Gatecrasher, then as producers. they are now on the Galaxy Radio network. We caught up with them for their take on chasing the next big thing, the importance of their radio shows (forthcoming guests include Justice, Sneaky Sound System, Mark Knight, Funkagenda) and how they got into electronic music. HBF: What music did you grow up around? Nick: I really started getting into music in [...]

The story of these three unique musicians started back when Spencer Riley Alfonso & Patrick Hill got their first gig opening for the Cold War Kids in Whittier, California. Encouraged by a conversation with the Indie giants after the performance, Spencer & Patrick formed what became Riley. Later meeting their drummer Jarred Coleman through a series of coincidences and inspired by the Tom Hanks film, That Thing You Do, Riley found a sound that blends Retro-Rock with Rhythm and Southern Californian Soul. Their latest musical installment, a 4 song EP entitled "For the Love," showcases an even wider range of [...]

Riley :: Grandma’s Roadhouse
Back in 1971 a short-lived band out of Nashville, TN, by the name of Riley, pressed up 500 copies of their self-released LP, Grandma's Roadhouse. Nearly 40 years later Delmore Recordings has dusted off and reissued the album for its second wind. An exercise in the kind of "country rock" that was beginning to take [...]
