I’ve never made a mix that tried to capture the feeling of Autumn, my favorite season. Until now! Just in time for tomorrow's equinox. I tried to use songs that either have fall lyrics, sound like fall, or were I purchased in the fall. Hope you enjoy. 1. Smashing Pumpkins ~ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (I like to start with instrumentals and this is a good one off a great double album released in October 1995) 2. [...]

Autumn is finally here and I couldn't be happier. It's always been my favorite season, with the leaves changing and the weather getting cooler. In honor of that, I've put together a mix that reminds me of fall. Most of these songs have nothing to do with the season, but they are all songs that I associate with this time of the year. I hope you like! Van Morrison - Into the Mystic Laura Nyro - Eli's Comin' Rufus Wainwright - Crumb By Crumb [...]
jenny lewis reminds me a lot of the two face chick from seinfeld. sometimes she looks really freakin hot and to steal a phrase from joey lawrence "whoa!" but not in a good way. i could spend forever in her bosom, thats for damn sure. her 06 release rabbit fur coat with the watson twins is definitely in my top 10 of the year. no rilo kiley record has done much for me in all honesty. i like about half and then the other just falls flat. here is rilo kiley on none other [...]

So not too long ago, I asked for help in where to start with Rilo Kiley . Combining the advice I got from that post with a rather good sale at Virgin Megastore today, I picked up two of their albums at rather bargainous prices. From 2002, 'The Execution Of All Things' and from 2004, 'More Adventurous' and as I sit here typing with track three of the former being the third really good song in a row, I'd like to thank those who encouraged me to investigate further. Which leads [...]
Will Pete Doherty & Carl Barat duet on a new single? Tom Chaplin from Keane is in rehab .What celebrity isn't these days? I'm loving the new Ok Go music video. Treadmills are great. We could have had "Whitney Bin-Laden" . The Irish Music Chart is in some sorry state . Don Vito from Viva La Bam got arrested for child abuse . Watch a fan made video for Lily Allen's song "Alfie" . It's got The [...]

I recently re-discovered this song; Rilo Kiley is easily one of the best acts around these days, and as a result people are eager to hear all they can. Several years ago I got my hands on a copy of Rilo's first release(s); a self-titled album from Rilo Records (the first of their self-owned 'labels'), released in 1999. The album went through two pressings (with a slight track-list change), and was followed by 'The Initial Friend's EP' (basically a pruned re-release of the first two albums), before the band was picked up by Barsuk for 'Take-Offs and Landings'. [...]

As I gaze out my window at the clear blue sky stretching before me, this Ron Sexsmith song seems like the most appropriate song in the world. Calming, serene and just downright simplistic in it's beauty, it's making me want to hear more by this man. But I don't know anything about him. I got the song on some random free compilation a few years ago and immediately stuck it on my iTunes with the aim of investigating further. But alas, despite my sometimes shabby appearance, I am not Columbo and my investigation stmbled [...]

Okay, kids, I am going to go get some sleep. It has been lovely Blogathon-ing tonight. Rilo Kiley- So Long

Being the 20-something indie rock nerds that we are, Matt from YANP and I decided that the best way to celebrate our blogger meet-up at Pitchfork was with a “which indie rock girl would you marry, given the chance†feature. I swear, it sounded less creepy when we came up with it. Anyways, here are our top picks, complete with an MP3 of each. After all, they’re more than just a pretty face. Rose from The Pipettes (both Matts' [...]
This one seriously won't come as a surprise, but come on! I usually go months at a time without listening to her, but when I return to my Rilo Kiley home after a long journey to Tapes 'n Tapes Land, I am always welcomed back with a warm hug and the smell of cherry pie cooking in the oven. And you want to know why? It's that voice. Oh that voice! But it's not just that, my friends. Jenny Lewis is all of it: excellent musician, sex symbol, fashion icon, and how can we [...]

Sorry about the lack of posts since the 4th of July. I've been entirely unmotivated to do anything besides work, watch t.v. and sleep the past couple of days. Your Friday theme mix hast turned into a Saturday theme mix, but it's here nonetheless. I'm sure you kids are going to scroll through your collections and find a whole bunch more songs about emotions, so list 'em if you want to. Rilo Kiley - Emotional Poe - Angry [...]
Last December, I downloaded a ton of Christmas music. Then, I put together a CD’s worth of favorites. Only 191 shopping days until Christmas! Get some holiday cheer, and go get some gifts. Ed Harcourt ~ In The Bleak Midwinter (my all-time favorite Xmas carol) Hem ~ Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (a close second) Marah ~ Baby, It’s Cold Outside (a close third) Sufjan Stevens ~ Once in
