One of my favorite quasi-under the radar remixes of this year is the Ring Trick Remix of the excellent Beach House track "Zebra". It was really neat, but really understated for the most part. My initial disdain for anyone trying to remix Beach House was replaced with acknowledgement that it could be done in a non-terrible way. well...not really. Beach House released Teen Dream a little while back and I raved on about it, calling it pop perfection. One of my fave tracks off the disc was Zebra...and lo and behold. Ring Trick first lassoed me in way back when Radiohead had just released In Rainbows , and he put out his Video Tape remix. It was a magical mix. Ring Trick, who hails from California, just sent me via email a new track he just finished up entitled "In Circles". This track shows his melodic song writing chops that garner comparisons to M83 and Eno. Ring Trick just hit me up with a sweet remix of Cut Copy 's 'Far Away'. Hes an electro artist by the name of Charlie Rohrer from San Fran, and his synthwork is pretty sweet. Its pretty dreamy, but the percussion keeps the beat moving.
