Originally a Michigan native, Erin Rioux apparently discovered electronic music through a study abroad opportunity in Germany. He seems to be making the most of his education now that he's been living and performing here in Brooklyn over the past three years. While most producers dig through crates and twirl Yamaha DX7 knobs for their textures, Rioux takes an organic approach to sound sourcing. A recent mix, like the colorful ''Unison (feat. Bjork)," might include washes of color that strip apart the singer's voice, revealing layers of meaning extracted and tweaked line by line from her voicebox. [...]
Rioux feat. Björk : Unison - MP3 A 21 ans, l'Américain Rioux a déjà 4 EP à son actif et un album audiovisuel, Everything You Need Right Here . Avec des vocals de Björk , sa dernière track Unison est une petite douceur electro-pop, une bulle dans laquelle il s'amuse avec la voix unique de Björk. A écouter et à télécharger. Et si vous en voulez plus, faites [...]

Tweet Now, us at SGTMT, we like good music. Some people only like new music, good or bad. We like good music, new or old. Which is why when I realised I'd forgotten to write about this Rioux song months ago it's not a problem. It's still good. And it's free. I like that too. This one, Flow , is free too.

Tweet If you've been reading my reviews before today you'll know that I'm into experimentation. If you haven't then just where the hell have you been? I love the ability of some artists to take sounds that most of us would just dismiss as noise and put them together in a way that not only fits but also produces tunes that we can hum along to. Occasionally they even create something we can dance (or approximate a form of dance) to. This guy is one of [...]

His debut full-length "Everything You Need Is Right Here" dropped on January 17th and each [...]

Rioux (Erin Michael Rioux – pronounced "ree-yoo") runs an incredibly broad range of musical styles on his new release, Everything You Need is Right Here , yet his smooth vocals are the golden thread which ties them all together. The twelve-track LP goes from blah to sublime, though most tracks are solid. It's a terrific disc for the most part. It's not often that we get emails from people I assume are just readers of our blog. Generally our inbox is clogged with labels and PR people shouting about new releases, new videos, etc. We get emails about bands announcing the name of their next album, then the cover art, then the track listing. But...

What a great way to start the day with a brand new act fully cognisant of the possibilities awarded by the web and using them to spread the word on his genuine talent. The fruit of his trickery is 'Everything You Need Is Right Here', a debut LP he'll be touring around Europe over the next next few months.
