Ryan L. West , aka Rival Consoles, has released a new live mix through, which clock in at over 23 minutes. This release is in celebration of the Soundcrash Warehouse Party on 2nd June where Rival Consoles will be performing. "I was interested in faults and buzzing and imperfections and dub bass lines with slow house rhythms. I used analogue gear and sampling, with less emphasis on change and more emphasis on old school tone and mood." Listen to it below. Erased Tapes newsletter readers will [...]

Erased Tapes må være et af mine absolutte yndlingspladeselskaber. Indirekte er det meget tydeligt på Musik Mig Blidt, idet jeg har skrevet mange rosende ord om flere af de kunstnere, pladeselskabet har i stald. Særligt A Winged Victory For The Sullen , Ólafur Arnalds , Nils Frahm og snart Peter Broderick.

Click image to download track Sounds like: Nosaj Thing "Jon Hopkins - Insides (Rival Consoles Remix)" What's so good? There are quite a few electronic tracks that have somewhat questionable tones in my mind. I can't decide whether or not I should listen to these tunes in the same way that I watch a scary movie or whether I should feel a little creeped out. [...]

Our Logikal Beginnings series is dedicated to providing a venue for up-and-coming producers to show their colors. At SL we aim to share all good music, not just music produced by the biggest names. We hope for this series to be the inspiration for some to keep producing, and a boost to the next level for others. After all, like th Big Bang, there has to be a Logikal Beginning to everything. ______________________________ __ Electro House Gorillas On Drums - Hold Your Breath [...]

Ryan L. West, aka Rival Consoles , is promoting his forthcoming album Kid Velo (out on Erased Tapes) by releasing it track by track over the course of 11 weeks. So far Drowned in Sound and The Line Of Best Fit have streamed the first couple of tracks from the album, and now it's our turn to unleash a track upon your ears. The track in question is called 'S.P.K.R.S.' and it's bloody HUGE. Can you imagine hearing this a full blast? It's so intense it would probably blow your eyebrows off. [...]

Rival Consoles is the geekiest band name of all time. There is no avoiding this. It is lucky, then, that the music that Londoner Ryan L West makes under this moniker is so consistently entertaining. New it is not; instead, it is almost totally indebted to a combination of late '90s IDM (can we just kill that horrible acronym now, please?), and SEGA soundtracks. But that doesn't matter - because it is just done so very, very well. His second album, Kid Velo , is being released one track at a time [...]

The popularity of the Devil's weekly round ups (tune in tomorrow for the latest) and the Devil's Witch House primer got me thinking what about an irregular series of round-ups of tracks from a particular genre. Hence today's post is dedicated to rounding up some Electronica tracks I've stumbled upon over the past few weeks... Wild Vibes From: New York, United States [...]

Have you ever thought how fucking cool it would be if all your favourite 802s computer games came alive and invaded New York? Nah, i didn't think so. Me neither. But here it is! French film-maker/musician Patrick Jean has put together a video that has Pac Man, Space Invaders, Tetris and many more all teaming up for a pixelated 8-bit assault on the Big Apple. [...]

Not too many modern disco tracks (aka electro) catch my ear - An earlier vibe came from Rival Consoles - via Rob Da Bank . This one comes via Creamteam.TV - Joakim. If we were to strip away the BPM - a solid space jazz vibe is present - that loops from an Axel Foley bump into dream pop chorus into a bunk 'soul' guitar break than back into the looped bindle for the come down. It's artists like Joakim and Rival Consoles that have an obvious soulful vision present - looking forward when they produce a human R&B [...]

Our mail bag has overflowed with new tunes this month. Out of procrastination excuses and with the e-mail piling up, we took a deep breath, steadied our nerves and went postal. To our surprise there's some really good stuff in there. A few of these artists we already knew about, but many are flying below the radar. From now one, we'll make it a regular feature to share the mailbag goods. Check out the tracks below and let us know who you like, so can get more material on them in the future. [...]

*UPDATE * The Forcefield Kids ( Issue #5 ) - Hip-Hop / Alternative / Electronica / Northeast, UK Due out November 2nd, the Forcefield Kids (Stain(ed) Art bringing the raps and Sleepy on beats) are releasing a new 5-track EP Harmony & Discord . Their socially-conscious delivery, sounding current with, and better than much of what's out there in the genre, in my opinion, modern hip-hop/rap, while retaining a distinct Britishness and blending it all together in a chill, lo-fi electronic atmosphere. "No Signal" [...]

I was drawn in by the NME tagline - 'IO' is a party record even snobs can enjoy.' Finally, after all this time I've been waiting for a party record I can enjoy along with all my snob friends. Recently parties have ranged from abject to the dire because the party records have just been a bit too umm obvious. The thought that circles round my mind is when the fuck will DANGER enleve le doigt de son cul and make the best party record ever. Soon selon a son myspace. Seriously though, Rival Consoles deserves your attention [...]
Since that first mash-up I did wasn't too terrible, I decided to give it another go. This time, the victims were Stars , The Mars Volta , Rival Consoles , and mewithoutYou . Yes, you read that right. It probably sounds like a shit-storm, just because of the disparate artists involved (and to some extent, it kind of is), but I think it flows together pretty nicely. The constituent tracks are: Maintenance Hall, 4am - Stars Drunkship Of Lanterns - The Mars Volta [...]
