What can we say? We love Terrence Bishop around here at TVD. Bassist T-Money is currently working with quite a few acts such as River City Tanlines , Kenny Brown , Subteens , and Billie Worley and The Candy Company . Chances are you will see him playing out in the near future. 1 ) Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers - "Moon Pie" - Playback (Vol.5) - Through The Cracks Tom Petty's "Moon Pie" is an outtake from a 1986 recording session that is [...]
The S-25 Mix is short for The Sunday 25 Songs Mix, where we put together a mix of 25 tracks (sometimes more) we love from all genres and time periods of music. Saturday marks the last full day of the barrage of official and unofficial South By Southwest showcases. Yesterday, we presented a gigantic musical guide to the top showcases for evening shows (not even including daytime showcases), plus mini-mixes for our favorite showcases for Wednesday and Thursday. Three killer rock bands, one killer show - The Dirty Streets , River City Tanlines & Chinamen . You Must Be Present To Win

River City Tanlines. ( Courtesy of the artist ) After watching six bands play at our own NPR Music showcase at The Parish , I took a short break from the music. Is that okay? I'm only asking because I actually feel guilty. Okay, here's the long and short of it on River City Tanlines . River City Tanlines is a 3 piece rock n' roll band from Memphis, TN that combine their delta area musical heritage and the fury of 70's punk. The current line up is made up of Alicja Trout (guitar), Terrence Bishop (bass), and John Bonds (drums). Trout used to play in The Clears and then later in The Lost Sounds (can really hear that influence in the Tanlines), and Bishop and Bonds have played alongside RL Burnside and Kenny Brown. I had been [...]

Because of those muted browns." -- Tom on the Aerosmith drummer's luxurious toy aquatic "Yesterday I had a conversation about salami with somebody." -- Daniel, Twittering away his days "I got nothing to be arrogant about." -- Hesh, coming clean on his sad life "I've taken up cigars because someone told me they aren't as bad." -- Frederick Douglas, receiving some odd health advice "I wanted a vegetable panini! Does this look like a [...]

I just now rediscovered this little cache on my Yeppers playlist. Some are a bit edgier than I usually post on this site, infinitely smoother than lots I like. Pictured are The Duke Spirit . No doubt the other groups will be insanely jealous. Lovetones - Mantra mp3 The Soft Lightes - Black Skinheads in White Pants mp3 [...]
"I’m ready for a fight, where’s my championship robe?" -- Tom, staking early claim to a "W" by converting the studio into a 107-degree gym "You can’t get no thrills out of life?" -- Tom wondering why J. in Seattle is doing rails with his FOT membership card "You had them all in one place, U.S. government. I thought you had festivals like that as a way to ferret out the no-goodniks." -- Tom on a missed opportunity to sterilize Brooklyn street filth at the Atlantic Antic "Hey, everybody, [...]
