Send in the Clowns – Sad Song of the Year (1973, Stephen Sondheim) By John Gleason | Roadside Graves I believe it was midway through the seventh listen in a row to this song that my wife said, “I thought you hate clowns”. The constant stream of good-to-great music coming in the mail - both email (mostly) and 'regular' mail - is overwhelming; yet, there are songs and bands we think more people should hear. So this interview is a little dated, but is definitely still worth checking out. It was filmed with John Norris, the former MTV News anchor everyone knows and loves, during SXSW in Austin this past March. Check out the video above. Also, be sure to check out all of Roadside Graves upcoming tour dates here .

Tomorrow is "official get out of the house and go visit a sales emporium that is open to the public for the express purpose of enabling cash (or credit) transactions in exchange for pre-recorded music". In other words, it's RECORD STORE DAY !!!!!!!!!! For those born after 1970, ask your parents what a record is. It's like those mp3s you listen to on your ipod, except it's real and sounds so much better (so I've been told). It's time to open up the wallet and spend some of your hard earned to get that elusive vinyl lp [...]

For some reason I could not sleep in Thursday. I was already exhausted and I'd only been in Austin for 18 hours. Was it anticipation for another day of shows? Fear at missing the dozens of shows I was sure to miss? The beginning of the NCAA tournament? The lingering effects of last night's Bar-B-Q? The year of the P? Probably all those. So why sleep when 5 blocks away Dawes and Frightened Rabbit are playing in the Hilton Hotel lobby? Dawes are suitably bed-headed but genial as they take the stage for their 9 am KUT-sponsored show. Sure I've been out of town, but who am I kidding, Drake 's column hardly ever goes up on time, even when I'm in my regular time zone. (No disrespect to my brother on the left coast.) -ed. (Diversions, a recurring feature on Aquarium Drunkard, catches up with our favorite artists as they wax on subjects other than recording and performing. So I’ve been working a lot of long hours. It has sapped my will to be funny or amusing. Basically sapping my will…although I guess it could also be a direct result of listening to Bieber. Zing! My World 2.0 by Justin Bieber - God damn it. Just fucking...god damn it...is that [...]

Four years ago, I pledged to attend SXSW every year until I die. So far I've kept that promise. Rating: 5.0/ 5 (9 votes cast) Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for links that don't make it onto the blog.

By Jake Feala The beauty of South-by-Southwest is that you're equally likely to see music in a dingy bar, a bohemian coffee shop, or a giant outdoor stage. Friday's backyard barbeque, though, would have to be the most unique SXSW venue I've seen yet. Butterflies and charcoal smoke swirled in the air on an incredibly pleasant Austin afternoon. Only a short cab from downtown, the place was quite literally a backyard - two in fact - with an old, short wooden fence separating the hang-out/food yard from the music yard. Right in [...]
When a piano silhouette sparkles through the first moments of "Demons," you might think you'd reached for the wrong CD. The uptempo percussion sequence that immediately follows would only embolden this belief-that is, until John Gleason's familiar rasp comes brimming into focus. And, as with its opener, so it goes throughout much of the Roadside [...]

Alright it's time for another Mixtape. Actually it's been time for a Mixtape for a while now. I've had these tracks sitting on my desktop for far too long, just taking up space and doing absolutely no good at all. All those little icons staring at me, actually more like glaring at me. Crying out for me to stop being such a lazy ass every time I turn on my computer. So put the songs to use and grab the whole mix at the bottom or take what [...]

Last month Roadside Graves debuted "Liv Tyler," the first single off their forthcoming EP, You Won't Be Happy With Me (out March 23rd).
