A cassette only release from a micro indie label in Michigan of a stellar band from Sweden is the raison d'être of Swedesplease so it's a post I couldn't refuse. In Wizard On Fire , Robert Church comes across as the twee stepbrother of The Radio Dept. "Old Friend" has that overly distorted slash mashed with reverb sound of the much loved Lesser Matters , but the fuzziness lacks the production that kept The Radio Dept. from being slapped with the lo-fi label. Robert Church & the Holy Community are a Swedish lo-fi indie pop band formed in 2006. Most of their songs are written by members Joel & Rickard. Their sound is comparable to the lo-fi twee pop done by Belle & Sebastian in their earlir records. Some of their influences include: Robert Wyatt, Sebadoh, Lill Lindfors. My body clock is playing funny tricks on me today. I think it's gotten all confused because of the clocks springing forward.
