"After many months of tour, Rodriguez has had to make the difficult decision to cancel and reschedule the first week of his European tour in an attempt to preserve his well-being and stamina and therefore will not be able to perform at Primavera Sound" é o comunicado do músico, que cancela assim a passagem pelos dois festivais. A organização promete anunciar, em breve, o substituto de Rodriguez , um dos nomes fortes que atuaria no dia 31 de maio . [...]

Oh Coachella the stuff of myth and whimsy...breaking ground, artists and all that jazz. Maybe you've read a Coachella recap or two already... but I'm sorry... I've been recovering. After sitting a few years out, I flew deliriously into the desert full of myth and whimsy after a late night of DJing in New York. After soaking up a bit of sun and putting back a few beers, I was feeling the vibes and off to the festival I went. First stop was for my personal Jesus of DJing, DJ Harvey... Spent [...]

Who: Rodriguez in the Gobi Tent In 3 or Fewer Words: Legend, loved. Memorable Because: It is 41 paces from the back corner of the Gobi Tent to the fringe of the substance-addled area known as The DoLab. Talk about worlds apart. As Sunday evening's onerous windstorm approached and the DoLab's annoying something-’n’-bass encroached on the tent, fans took it into their own hands to make some noise for Sixto Rodriguez. A good 10 minutes before the 70-year-old — who suffers glaucoma and various aches and pains from years of doing [...]

As the late great George Harrison taught us, “all things must pass.” Though the ex-Beatle was mainly referring to cloudbursts, sunsets, and the finality of life itself, this nugget of bedrock wisdom rings no less true for our pilgrimage to Coachella’ s exuberant fusion of gluttonous music consumption and skimpy neon ensembles. Sunday saw festivalgoers sporting looser fitting, more modest attire, and the generally mellow mood was a well-earned change of pace following Friday’s frantic nerves and Saturday’s purposeful navigating. But something about our excesses this past weekend must have angered the rock deities. As night descended, [...]

Photo by G. Rodriguez and Geoffrey Dicker Sixto Rodriguez is having quite a year. After decades of obscurity, a documentary entitled "Searching for Sugar Man" about the 70s folk singer got released and Rodriguez (as he is better known) is enjoying global success now. The documentary won an Oscar at the Academy Awards and Rodriguez is performing at massive venues across the country! This just goes to show that success can happen at any age. What an inspiration. Great meeting you Rodriguez! Thanks again! [...]

Set times for 20132s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival have been announced, and if you're like us at BBLA HQ, you're already mapping out a game plan for whom you want to see. The thing is, every year always presents some conflicts leaving you no choice but to choose one band over another. Conflicts in the desert may vary in degrees from person to person, but here are a few that are causing some hair-pulling ... Friday [...]

Dear Coachella : This post could be about 38 bands long, but I'm just afraid of getting RSI. I know it's become fashionable to take potshots at your lineup — I have no idea what warped sense of entitlement that comes from. You have a nice product, and the excellence in the 2013 lineup runs deep. I just hope that in the wee hours of Sunday I'm not dead for Dead Can Dance. Below, belying my Anglophile tendencies, the 10 sets I do not want to miss (a list also informed, it should be pointed [...]

Brittany Howard must have to pinch herself from time to time to make sure that she's not dreaming. The Alabama Shakes have been on quite the hot streak of late - making their SNL debut, earning three Grammy nominations and they have a monster summer tour lined up. Next up for Howard will be her first release on Jack White's Third Man Records label, which sees the Shakes front woman teaming up with Ruby Amanfu (White's duet partner on Love Interruption from his solo album), for a very cool sounding Blue Series Single that will be released [...]
