20. Take That - Progressed The "parent album" was one of my favorites of last year, and this continuation kept up the quality. To me, this didn't sound at all like a collection of leftovers. In fact, in some ways this is even more experimental than Progress . It's also more uptempo and, while it's not as consistently brilliant as the group can be, it has its share of blistering highlights. [...]

"God knows that I've tried" Australia's Rogue Traders just (finally) released their first album with new vocalist Mindi Jackson. It was worth the wait! I really like Mindi's vocals--they remind me of early Kylie with a punk edge. On the whole, the album is very 80's inspired and mostly uptempo. It's definitely a progression from their earlier work with Natalie Bassingthwaighte. Less straight ahead dance and more new wave. If you've heard the singles, you know what to expect. One of my favorite tracks is Don't Think I Love You , which has an amazing, [...]

STOP EVERYTHING IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY FUCKING SONG THAT MATTERS TODAY. David Guetta - "Titanium (feat. Sia)" So it's a fight you want? Well, as Jordin Sparks would likely say: YABETTAGOANDGETCHURAMMA . Powerhouse Aussie-born soulstress Sia comes guns blazing in "Titanium," the final track off of David Guetta 's forthcoming record Nothing But The Beat , which is due out on August 30 in the US. "Titanium" is a blend of many amazing elements-from the delicate [...]
Apparently more people are taking notice of Rogue Traders since they have replaced their lead singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte with a new singer-the punky Melinda Jackson and have turned up the electro beats with their new single, "Would You Raise Up Your Hands?" Check them out (above) at this month's Logie Awards. Rogue Traders - Would You Raise Your Hands by alienhits

I'm not much of a lying around the pool in the middle of summer kind of girl--give me a book and some shade, thank you very much--but a weeklong early summer vacation in a humid southern state kind of demands it. The songs that fell into frequent rotation for me this year during my "would have been more deserved any time from February to April but by this point was basically just a change in location, not leisure time" vacation (it's heavy on songs I added just before taking off and losing computer access): Kelly [...]

"If I raise my hands would that make you dance?" Rogue Traders is one of those bands that I should love. Yet their music has never really done anything for me, until this single. I've enjoyed all of their prior singles to a point, but they've never been enough to make me want to investigate an album. Now the band's back with a new singer (the punky Melinda Jackson replaces now-solo Natalie Bassingthwaighte). This is going to be sacrilege to long-time fans, but I actually prefer Jackson's Minogue-gone-punk vocals to Bassingthwaighte's, which tended to be more [...]
Been watching reruns of reruns of Dr Who lately, and one of 'em uses music to great effect. The Sound of Drums has a superb scene in some giant floating sky ship, where The Master, gleefully played by John Simm, brings legions of destructive, living metal spheres down on Earth, accompanied by this Elvis Costello penned song - albeit artfully cut to start with 'Here come the Drums'. Note the sample from 'Pump It Up'. ♫ Voodoo Child - Rogue Traders Here Come The Drums (2005) buy [...]

Is there a reason you're still hangin' around? Talk about a musical attack. "I Never Liked You" is dance-rock wrapped up in a pop package, but even more than that, from the moment that crunchy guitar riff slices through the silence to open the song, you know you're in for an adrenaline-pumping ride. The Australian group teases us with that riff, a percussion and choral crescendo, and some shouted "Hey"s, but they quickly revert to a coyly demure verse with singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte putting on her best doe-eyed [...]
I'll say it: I don't get the Ladyhawke love. To me, the Ladyhawke surge is akin to that of last year's Rogue Traders wave of fascination, and to a lesser degree, the Dragonette spree (I hesitate to make that connection because I still actively believe in Dragonette.) What I'm hearing is some strictly by-the-books rock chord changes and uninspired vocals and rhymes. Very safe, very '90s pop-rock...I feel as though I've heard it all before! Granted, It's not bad material, per se--I'm just not impressed, and I don't [...]

Alive is the debut single from Australian singer and former Rogue Traders lead singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte 's forthcoming debut album due for release in 2009. It's straight up dance-pop, heading straight to clubs worldwide. Check out the video below!

...a perfect sphere, unknown in the Forest... the shattering quiet/weird moment from Merchant Ivory's Savages ... spins through the air like an electron, lands in the world of the Mud People, savages waiting for a Pop Group cover , waiting for old (not classic) Nike trainers, Puma tops... Mark Stewart And The Maffia - Welcome To Liberty City ^^^^^^^^^^ lots more on the Pop Group, MP3s etc, here ^^^^^^^^^^ not the one [...]
Apparently I would have just looked bad if I ran off to the internets to complain about the Dr. Who finale just after it ended, so I've waited a bit. I'm not sure how that's meant to help anything though. Despite the annoying 'flashback syndrome' you tend to get with two-parters, it was actually quite good until the last 15 minutes, when it became almost unbearably ridiculous and laced with laughable undertones. Conceptually, of course, it's something that's been discussed and theorised over many times, with varying degrees of plausibility - I mean, Erich von Daniken 's [...]

Okay, so every blog's doing it and I'm a bit behind due to hosting issues, so I have to reupload the files again for you guys...Anyway, this is a mixed treat bag, with a collection of songs ranged from electropop to indie, and their titles are all connected to the Halloween theme. Have fun listening to them, and I hope you enjoy dressing up in costumes and getting all sorts of sweets from the neighborhood, or enjoy giving candies to tooth-decay the kids, or getting wild at some extravagant adult Halloween party...
