Sometimes you can't help but just go with the band's own description...and/or the wiki description... when you want to share some tunes you just discovered. The Go! Team is described as combining "indie rock and garage rock with a mixture of blaxploitation and Bollywood soundtracks, double dutch chants, Charlie Brown piano, car chase horns, old school hip hop and distorted guitars..." Seriously! They don't even know how to describe their own music to their mums. My iTunes describes them as Electronic, and even though a lot of my favorite bands are also described as Electronic, normally [...]

The Go!
British lo-fi outfit made groundbreaking work with their debut Thunder, Lightning, Strike. A blend of hip-hop, pop, electronic, bossa nova, and 70s elevator music, The Go! Team was bringing something fresh and untapped. The new-found success surely affected their approach to the next critically acclaimed Proof of Youth, as they moved closer and closer towards [...]

Another interstellar jam, and video, taken from The Go! Team 's new album Rolling Blackouts . "Apollo Throwdown" features the much-hyped rap princess Dominique Young Unique -- sharing vocal duties with Ninja -- but it's the colorful and cosmic samples that push this track far into space. This clip definitely has the look and feel of an 80's video game like Tempest mixed with an after school special. Dig it.
2011 release, the third album from the British Electro/Rock/Hip Hop/Garage outfit. Frantic, seesaw brass stabs and delay-pedal vapor trails. Eagles riding the thermals. A call and response between... Download your favourite album at The Mood Indicator
After almost a four-year break since their previous release, the energetic sextet from Brighton, England are back with Rolling Blackouts, bringing back that feel-good mood from their debut album. As always with this band, there’s enough variety to keep you entertained for hours and it seems to get better with every listen. Hip-hop style vocals, cheerful [...]

Words: Simon Opie The Go! Team - 'Rolling Blackouts' (UK Release: 31 Jan '11) The two overriding themes for this album are joy and nostalgia, and therein lies the danger of the path that Brighton-based The Go! Team tread on their third album 'Rolling Blackouts' . The album harks back to a simpler age when Fatboy Slim invented the Big Beat Sound, Mike Myers came up with Austin Powers, and The Go! [...]

Bar the album outstaying it's welcome, it is definitely a tour-de-force.

The super-sized UK group bring another serving of their youthful, high-octane pep and cheer for their third release... but is it too much of a good thing? The Go! Team - T.O.R.N.A.D.O..mp3 The Go! Team - T.O.R.N.A.D.O. Download The Go! Team - Secretary Song.mp3 The Go! Team - [...]
The group expand their sound a bit on their third album.

It’s been a little over three years since The Go! Team ’s disappointing second album Proof of Youth , and the Brighton kids are back for a third attempt. It’s great timing as they’ve been away long enough to sound fresh again and I’m liking what I’m hearing. The hectic formula is still the same as ever but bandleader Ian Parton adds that there’s a new focus on songwriting. It’s apparent but the ramshackle pop and loveable eclectic sounds (cheerleaders chants, horns, scratches, theme music etc.) are still as present as ever. [...]
There is something incongruous about The Go! Team releasing their new album in the middle of winter. It doesn't feel right listening to such a relentlessly upbeat record in such a bitterly cold period. The Go! Team - Rolling Blackouts Rolling Blackouts picks up from where second album Proof Of Youth left off. Eschewing any kind of instrumental fade in, 'T.O.R.N.A.D.O.' assaults the ears as soon as you press play. Ninja's distinctive vocals compete for [...]
So, everyone is freaking out. And if it's going to be ice, they're right to freak out. I don't care where you're from, driving on the ice is awful. The commute into work both ways is going to be long and arduous. I might as well sleep in my cubicle tonight, since they're also having rolling blackouts because the grid is so overwhelmed (it was 20 degrees this morning and with single pane windows everywhere, it's hard to keep the house warm). It'd be nice to see snow again, but I'm definitely not thrilled about the ice. I [...]

La fanfare hip-hop de retour avec cet extrait : T.O.R.N.A.D.O. / tiré du nouvel album Rolling Blackouts. The Go! Team nous sert une offensive forte et extravagante ! The Go! Team - T.O.R.N.A.D.O.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars So what genre exactly is The Go! Team ? Pop, hip-hop, garage rock, alternative dance, or a list of various others? The answer to these questions is all of the above, as The Go! Team dabbles between many different genres, if not plain and simply their own unique combination of sounds. To me, this distinct variety that makes up this group is refreshing while swimming through a sea of simple pop albums. However, at times the group can sound a tad bit [...]

Chad Valley takes on British-based band The Go! Team’s upbeat track “Buy Nothing Day”, which features Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast fame, and gives it a refix. The Go! Team’s Rolling Blackouts is set to drop on February 1st in the states and January 31st in the UK. Click here to download MP3.

The catchy optimism found within Rolling Blackouts , the Go! Team's third album, emits the pep squad fundamentality that provides the go-to album of 2011 motivating spontaneous indie dance parties everywhere. But don't be apprehensive about the cheerleader angle, for this is not about pom poms and spankies; it is about the emotive reactions to inspiring stimuli (i.e. that song you always play on the trek to the bar and/or dance party). For a musical comparison, think a more exhilarating The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and depending on the track mixed with The [...]
