A new series comprised of music dug, then forgotten, remembered, possibly forgotten again, re-remembered, and now shared. Throwback California band The Allah-Las have setup a radio series dubbed Reverberation where they string together crate-dug gems into 9 to 12 song capsules. Hard to find rarities, overlooked classics, the occasional unreleased Allah-Las jam, and newer treats from White Fence and Sonny Smith all flow neatly from one heady space into the next. This week they reminded me of how much I dig Robyn Hitchcock and [...]

Give Them Space Bear in Heaven - I Love You, It's Cool Roman Ruins - Homebuilding Just as I was nearing the end of the newest Bear In Heavenoffering, something fascinating happened on the track "Warm Water". At the one minute-sixteen second mark, thesound of a faucet or a pipe leaking is introduced. [...]

Roman Ruins is the solo project of 31 year old Graham Hill ( Beach House, Papercuts ). When the Oakland based singer/songwriter is not designing architecture or creating tangible landscapes in real life, he sets to work with music. Layer after layer is added to Hill's tracks, queueing one another and tempting sets of tracks to become full songs. In February of 2012 the extent of hill's work ethic was realized by way of a 10 song full length titled Homebuilding - a release that has been earning him a lot of deserved attention. While [...]

Purportedly there is a sex tape featuring Adele that was set to hit the Internet yesterday. Paparazzo Jean Claude Elfassi was supposed to post uncensored images from the tape on his personal blog, and the magazine Public was going to feature them as well. The tape was allegedly made with her ex-boyfriend that inspired many of 21 's songs, so the release of the tape is his form of revenge. Read more »
Roman Ruins - Wildflower You know when you get ahold of an amazing new project, and it keeps popping up in your world? That's the case with Oaklander Graham Hill who " began constructing these songs while on tour in Europe in early 2010, daydreaming in the van about his pregnant wife at home." You can feel that tension here - the forlorn desire of 'missing', that state of perpetual mind-out-of-body that those types of separations create. I love the way this video diptych treatment directed by Land O' Goshen understands that and recreates it visually. [...]

Roman Ruins is the project of Graham Hill who has played drums for Papercuts and Beach House. It should be no surprise that Hill has a spectacular ear for percussion creativity. On "Mighty Love", the track opens with the sound of feet running on a crunchy surface and slowly becomes the backbone for a dreamy and expansive track filled with twists and turns. It takes a bit for all the sounds to come together, but once Hill's Beck like vocals kick in, the track hits a nice groove that holds strong until the end. This [...]

Montage Populaire – 'Reject Reinstall' Experimental glam pop from UK. These fellas are new on the block, yet act like they own it - convincingly. This song is boisterous, melodic, and inventive with a jovial, harmonious chorus, noisy breaks that channel the art rock of Roxy Music , and playful synth sounds that are reminiscent of Olivia Tremor Control or of Montreal . 'Reject Reinstall' is the lead track from their debut EP Not All Bombs Explode. Can't wait for this one... [...]

![[MP3] Roman Ruins: “Mighty Love”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4024851_lg.jpg)
31 year-old Graham Hill has had his fair share of experiences and successes. He's performed with Beach House and Papercuts on tour, and even contributed to Beach House's excellent Teen Dream . Now out on his own with his Roman Ruins project, Graham shows he's more than a live/studio drummer... so, so much more than that. Roman Ruins - Mighty Love "Mighty Love" is the first single from Roman Ruins' debut album Homebuilding , a [...]
Roman Ruins - Mighty Love Wowwwww. Do not hesitate to push play immediately. Masterful from top to bottom. goldrobot : Some of you might remember the talented Tyler Coray from last year's video for Monster Rally's "Surf Erie" which ended up on a number of best videos of 2011 lists. We are extremely lucky to work with him again, this time he takes on "Mighty Love" by Roman Ruins off the forthcoming Homebuilding 12" . I think we'll all agree that the beautifully shot footage and [...]

seamonster - "oh, appalachia (soviet remix)" (download) Last March, Gold Robot Records released the super-limited Seamonster mini album Two Birds . As a bonus treat, Gold Robot offered a FREE digital companion remix EP called These Bones for those who purchased the vinyl. The remix EP featured reworkings from electro pop whiz SOVIET , Meanest Man Contest , Roman Ruins , myself and others. This SOVIET remix completely flips the [...]

*PREMIERE* Roman Ruins // "The Comedown" (Galapagos Remix) My friends at Gold Robot Records just sent me this new Roman Ruins remix by Galapagos . It was actually kinda perfect timing since Jacob from Galapagos emailed me his stuff and I'd been planning on writing about anyways. However, instead of me telling you about him, go visit Tripp over at Cool Things I Find since he just today posted about Galapagos' debut EP Sounds Vol. 1. Now Roman [...]

A few months ago I saw Beach House play live. Going in I knew that Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally would blow my mind (of course), but I was also quite impressed by the duo's touring drummer Graham Hill. I was introduced, fittingly enough, to his solo project Roman Ruins through his remix of Beach House's 'Lover Of Mine; a few weeks later. So tonight when I saw that Phoenix's Jacob McNaughton (aka Galapagos ) finished up another rad remix, this time of Graham's single 'The Comedown,' I knew it'd be dope. Check it. [...]

So it appears Monday has whipped around again. This week's savory selection kicks off with a tune from Newcastle indie rockers Little Comets . They're here to remind us that it's October—good to know. Whether the fact that it's now October, the February of fall, is a good thing is a totally different issue. We plunge on. Brazilian mestre Gilberto Gil warms up the mix with a recent live version of ' Expresso 2222.' Dois , Dois , Dois . So Gilberto may [...]

I gotta say, I'm a little jealous of Graham Hill, also known as Roman Ruins . You see, besides having his own pretty nifty musical project, which you will hear below, he's also the touring drummer for one of my favorite bands around right now. Yes, you guessed it, the fantastically dreamy Beach House. I mean, I can't imagine that would be an awful gig by any stretch of the imagination. But it wasn't until sort of recently that I even knew he had his own stuff going too. I think I first found [...]
![Roman Ruins [PASTOR/AL 7'', Gold Robot Records]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2840908_lg.jpg)
For anyone who got the chance to see Beach House this year live would have noticed the obvious addition of another band member, Graham Hill. Whether or not he stays with the band for recording remains to be seen but I really appreciated getting to listen to a live drum kit during the set. Either way Hill is keeping busy with Papercuts, The Parish (plus several other bands) and now the release of a new solo 7'' from Gold Robot Records . This record probably would have went right on by if it wasn't for his [...]
From the Chaff (in reference to this idiom ) is a semi-regular series where we post things that might have otherwise slipped through the cracks. Whether it's singles, EPs or just MP3s that we like, it's a place for us to collect the things we've heard lately but haven't had a chance to write about yet. Luna Is Honey - Claws "Claws" is one of those jams that doesn't seem to do much at first, but then you [...]
