"Ronald Reagan Era" is the latest release from the California-based MC Kendrick Lamar as he prepares for his forthcoming album, Section 80. Kendrick, who was featured on XXL Magazine's 2011 Top 10 freshmen list, has been working with big names in the hip hop world recently, including Dr. Dre and J. Cole among others. Kendrick Lamar submits more evidence to the pile of why he's making his way up to the top of a lot of people's "greatest" lists. The track features RZA (blink and you'll miss it) and production is handled by LA producer and one half of The Weirrd People, Tae Beast. The track is from the debut studio album #Section80 due out on July 2nd. Overly Dedicated was one of the strongest joints last year and judging by what we've seen so far (including the J. This might be the best hip hop record I've heard thus far in 2011…even if Kendrick was born after what would technically be considered the "Reagan Era".
I've heard of Kendrick Lamar and haven't ever been to impressed with any of his tracks, until I listened to "Ronald Reagan." I definitely like the production and the sample on this track, as well as the vocals from RZA and KL. This track will be on Kendrick's album Section 80 , which now has a release date of July 2nd. Right when we landed, I checked twitter to find Kendrick Lamar tweeting the release of this new track, plus a date for the release of #Section80, which will be on 7/2/2011. There was a sneak peek of this track already released on the Top Dawg Ent YouTube Channel, and that short video of them in the studio was dope enough as it is, listening to RZA's voice echo throughout the studio.
