Miami's premier electronic music festival, Ultra , is returning to Miami's Bicentennial Park for its eleventh year. Ultra, of the same "family" as the New York and Ibiza nightclubs, is returning to Miami with a much-diversified lineup March 27-28. The initial lineup includes acts such as Tiesto, Bloc Party, The Ting Tings, Deadmau5, Santogold, Hercules & Love Affair, and Cut Copy. The most notable act on the initial lineup is Roni Size Reprazent, who are returning to the US after a seven-year hiatus. General admission tickets [...]

Some people said you don't mess with classic. Well, Roni Size did the exact opposite of that. He chose to re-work the Mercury award winning classic New Forms by giving it a 2008 rework. Drum'n'bass is one of those genre that quickly evolving into new forms all the time and despite it's status as a classic album, New Forms starts to show it's age. This is where the concept of New Forms 2 comes in. The idea was to do an updated version to New Form and giving it that modern drum'n'bass sound. In a way, he succeeded but [...]

Spring has sprung - right into the Summer. The daily commute is no longer welcomed by a transition seasonal breeze, but rather by the lingering haze that sticks to the skin. The ambiance of the city is set by a heat no shade can quench and humidity thick enough to hold in one's hand. The inner-Amazon need not travel overseas to experience the jungle, as this metropolis transforms itself into an urban jungle for the next three months. To welcome the sudden, but inevitable change, a Jungle list. Like the title notes, this is a relatively introductory foray [...]
There is only one band that has survived the whole 'rap-rock' genre onslaught and that's Rage Against the Machine . Yeah, there's still 311 ...but they suck now. Anyway, while Rage got back together for a few festivals and off dates, lead singer Zack de la Rocha has emerged (finally) with a solo album. After doing guest apperences with ?uestlove , Trent Reznor, DJ Shadow, Saul Williams [...]
The story broke yesterday that Rage Against The Machine frontman Zach de la Rocha's solo album will see its release in the near future. This is fantastic news, especially so considering the reaction the positive Rage Against The Machine has been getting from their various reunion shows performed this year. Since last we heard, he's recorded a little with Blackalicious, ?uestlove, Trent Reznor and DJ Shadow amongst others, but when it comes right down to it - no one really knows what de la Rocha's new album is going to sound like. My best guess? No [...]
One of the greatest videos of all time, Extra by Koji Morimoto Ten years ago all I wanted was to live in my headphones, listening to music that would make my eyes roll back. Listening to music so loud that it would shake my spinal column and I could feel it working its way through my [...]
One of my favourite things about 90's music was the various groups putting acoustic bass together with breakbeat drum rhythms, often played on real drums. Synth, turntable, drum machine and other electronic effects were often thrown in for good measure and great effect. The first group out of the the traps with that sound were Red Snapper . The three guys played together over 8 years and four albums before imploding after their last release in 02. Alas. Their main releases are on Sheffield-based Warp records, and are purchasable from the link given. I've somehow lost my [...]
