If you like the idea of country music but haven't quite made the leap to be a full-fledged cowboy, Ronnie Fauss new EP "Any Lovin' Way But Wrong" might give you a taste of what you might come across. Fauss attributes John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Todd Snider, and Blaze Foley as his strongest influences in this 4 track EP which includes the collective sound of the pedal steel, banjo, harmonica and guitar. Although not entirely polished vocals, Fauss is someone to look out for in potential future success. Fauss's first full-length album [...]

Y'all probably remember the album review we did back in the summertime of the very talented and local artist Ronnie Fauss and his EP New Songs For The Old Frontier. You might also remember that we mentioned another EP to be released later in the Fall. Well, Fauss is a man of his word. Ronnie Fauss' latest EP release, Mulligan, colors well outside the lines of his last release, but in a good way… cuz it's fun to do bad things! Tracks like "To Ease My Mind" have a very upbeat [...]

Beat Surrender favourite Ronnie Fauss has a new EP out, "Mulligan", here's a track from the EP. You can listen to more tracks at MySpace

Ronnie's back. It's no secret that we're big fans of Ronald Fauss' work around these parts and he's back with a new EP, Mulligan . Well, the album isn't officially out yet, but, you can listen to streams of the songs here . While his output is prolific, his work hasn't slipped one bit. He continues to bring a good natured, blue-collar vibe to his particular brand of alt-country.

Dallas is finally finding it's musical feet again after a long period of just lying on it's back with its legs in the air like a giant, dead spider-city. A new living organism of genuinely good music is emerging from under the sun-bleached bones of Deep Ellum and the Dallas music scene alike. Life is coming back to this old town, and Dallas based Ronnie Fauss is giving breath to this new body of music. Fauss, a very skillful folk/alt. country singer released his debut 6 song EP, New Songs For The Old Frontier [...]

"With Love" (mp3) The thing about songwriting is that often it takes a specific experience or occasion or catalyst in general that makes for a great song. Great songs (for me at least) tend to be a touch darker or even lonely, but you all may know this already. This track from Ronnie Fauss from his "New Songs for the Old Frontier, Volume 13 album to his own admission was almost subconsciously hidden as the last track on the release. This is because it is from a specific experience in Fauss' life [...]

Brent Best, Danny Balis and Ronnie Fauss will perform a "song swap" at All Good Cafe this Thursday. I would highly suggest you making a cameo for this one boys and girls...

Saturday night was a good night for local music. We were fortunate enough to have a great turn out for our first showcase. First up was Ronnie Fauss, the husky voiced troubadour armed with only his guitar and harmonica he showed off his singer-songwriter chops to a crowd. He moved through works from his two albums and EP with stunning results. Hopefully people were paying enough attention to tell their friends about him or check him out online. But, he's going to be playing with Danny Balis in the next [...]

Hello, kids! I'm happy to announce that we are having our first music showcase at City Tavern on January, 2. Know, New Years Day gives you plenty of time to sleep off that hangover... or catch up on some sleep. We were lucky enough to get a really strong line-up for what hopefully will be a long line of shows. Ronnie Fauss will start things off, followed by the excellent Elkhart and Bosque Brown will be the evening's main attraction. [...]

Beat Surrender favourite Ronnie Fauss has new EP available from iTunes the EP I Can't Make You Happy follows on from his great EP " New Songs from the Old Frontier ", fellow blogger Dangerbird has the full low down and a great review over at High Noon Saloon . Buy " I Can't Make You Happy "

Heard from Ronnie that he has released a new digital only 3 track EP just last week. The title track included below is exactly what you would think of a song of the night around here, it's slow, it's acoustic and it's a song that feels just a bit lonely. The track sings of not being able to be the person for that special someone. Sometimes it doesn't matter how much you want it, it just isn't going to work in part to whatever flawed situation that one finds themself. The song may be bleak, dark and even a bit [...]

Ronnie Fauss seems to be on a roll this year. He released his fantastic Songs For The Old Frontier, Vol. 1 earlier this year... and we really dug it. Now he's released I Can't Make You Happy, a lil' three-song EP that is available on iTunes. Fauss is one of the alt-country/roots/indie/americ ana acts in Dallas that doesn't seem to get any kind of recognition. His songwriting teeters on heart string tuggers like "I Can't Make You Happy" and songs ready made for the honky tonks like "One Eye Open." [...]
Ah! le Texas et son inépuisable vivier de songwriters inspirés... La bonne pioche du jour, c'est Ronnie Fauss, basé à Dallas, qui débarque avec un EP de 6 titres, New Songs For The Old Frontier Vol.1. Produit par Brent Best - des légendaires Slobberbone et Drams -, Fauss y fait preuve d'un talent certain pour trousser des textes à la fois sarcastiques et touchants. Ses confessions nous sont

Ronnie Fauss has been kind enough to let me have a review copy of his EP "New Song for the Old Frontier, Volume 1" one listen got me looking forward to Volume 2. The collection of six songs totals a little over 22 minutes and runs through a gamut of emotions, showcasing Ronnie's talent, the lyrics are strong and thoughtful, the vocal has that whiskey soaked edge of authenticity, Made in Texas. The opening track "The [...]

There is something about a bit of grit from a whiskey burnt throat accompanied by a slide guitar. Yeah, it's called country music, well...sort of. I do find myself often attending the "my dog is dead, my wife left me" school of music enjoyment and I have the following homework for you. Listen to Ronnie Fauss' "The Saddest Love That's Ever Been" and sit back and consider yourself lucky enough to be listening. While the context of the song isn't the classic version, it is a more modern tale of heartfelt loss and the way relationships lose course and hold [...]

I'm not sure what my attraction to sad songs is... but, they are always the songs I will latch onto first. Even if they aren't sad, per se, just kind of lonely. Once I heard local boy Ronnie Fauss ' "The Saddest Love That's Ever Been Made," the hook was definitely set and the rest of his album New Songs For The Old Frontier Vol. 1 continued to reel me in. His album runs from the tear-jerky opener "The Saddest Love That's Ever Been Made" to the [...]

I think Ronnie Fauss may have hit up a couple of us sympathetic alt-country/americana type music blogs. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more reviews in the coming days. Ronnie has a knack for writing songs that have both a catchy hook and good story. This new record has a bunch of Dallas' finest musicians on it as well as production by Brent Best (of Slobberbone fame). "The Night Before The War" is a sad tale of what happens to a man sent off to war. It's [...]
