Well, we're just about halfway with the reposts... Today, we feature volumes 9 and 10, which were originally posted in August 2009. Volume 10 holds a special place in this blog's history, because that's when Aaron from Tsururadio offered to post the mix on his blog. That started a bit of following and it has grown ever since. Aaron's moved onto Tsuruphoto, following his passion for photography. He now has a nudie-zine featuring some edgy but tasteful art, several videos to promote the zine and Tsuruphoto, and the occasional mixtape. We owe a big thanks for his early support, and [...]

Kitsuné has a knack for putting out great compilations that feature songs from bands you already like, and more importantly, songs from bands you've never really heard of. One such track that caught my attention off Kitsuné Maison 10 (available for download here ) is "Fires" by Waylayers. The song's sound itself is reminiscent of Coldplay or Doves, with [...]

There is no justice in the world of music. If record labels awarded contracts and marketing budgets based purely on talent, you'd already have your Roofwalkers tour shirt and coffee mug. This Washington D.C. band has, in one album displayed enough talent for writing perfectly crafted songs to justify headlining the largest stadium. If you're looking for expensive videos or high-quality concert footage, move along. If you're looking to hear a great new band, prepare to be amazed. Quiet, intense and densely layered without any hint of pretension. This describes our favorite people [...]

This Sunday, the Roofwalkers set out to swell the Galaxy Hut with their sublime atmospheric rock. Led by Ben Licciardi, and featuring members of Shortstack , Aloha & Mary Tim0ny's Soft Power , the six-piece band comes together to invoke dreamy elements of Yo La Tengo and American Analog Set. A few months ago, the band released their debut record under the Roofwalkers name, incorporating textured psych swirls and drones combined with layered, intricate melodies. Check out a sample, "Chin Music," below from their self titled record available now from [...]

Roofwalkers are back with a full length album featuring that song and a 9 other gems. Roofwalkers play a skeletal brand of moody pop, heavily influenced by the jangly sounds of New Zealand's heyday. These guys somehow manage to propel a languid haze with a smooth driving repetition. We wanted to capture this feeling with the art for the CD package.Get your download here Password to unpack
Releasing an album fresh out of college can be an interesting process. One arrives at the point where excitement and ambition are more prevalent than ever, not yet deterred by continuous rejection or personal crisis. All the knowledge acquired during class and work now has to be put to use using reason; this occurs as [...]

click image to view artist in itunes Sounds like: Autolux, Film School, Pinback what's so good? Shoegaze is a genre of alternative rock that emerged from the united kingdom in the late 1980s. The British music press called this genre "shoegazing" because the musicians in these bands often maintained a motionless performing style, standing on stage and staring at their effects pedals or the floor while playing their instruments; hence, the idea that they were gazing at their shoes. [...]
Here is where we'd typically introduce Roofwalkers in our Wednesday 'First Date' feature, but seeing that we did so on Monday, we're just going to dive in with Adrian Carroll's tales of life abroad. On vinyl. "When I was a college undergrad I lived abroad in Spain for a while. Lots of folks had painted living abroad as the best kicks of their life. But I didn't really find it to be. It was exciting and all that, and an important growing experience, but I found it pretty isolating and lonely at times. [...]

Without a doubt, Washington, D.C's Roofwalkers brand of guitar-driven melodic rock is some of the most addictive music I've heard. The music by the six-piece band formerly known as Pagoda is precise, meticulous, dreamy and reflective. Their 10-track debut self-titled album was two years in the making, and in what should be one-hell-of-a-show will open for Vandaveer at DC's The Black Cat . Roofwalkers music is decidedly subtle but it's lasting. There aren't too many bands that can take this genre [...]
