Meestal ontvang ik mailtjes van beginnende bandjes, uit Nashville, Frankrijk en natuurlijk ook Nederland. Vaak matig, soms goed en soms uitzonderlijk. Maar vorige week werd ik gemaild door Janne Schra. Janne kennen de meesten onder ons nog van haar eerdere werk bij Room Eleven. Ze waren succesvol, kregen meerdere prijzen en speelden op het Jazzfestival in Montreux en op North Sea Jazz. Ik herinner ze zelf het beste van Bitch , Faith en Hey Hey Hey . Visbak Festival Not much to say , a rainy sunday afternoon and a paled image of a once cool festival called Visbak Festival that moved from the Instuif to the Timboektoe & Aloha . Only the Room Eleven had a little bit of art to warm up the afternoon. Most fun in the afternoon was watching all that agitation of huge boats passing by and the dudes on the water having all the fun. Hope next year its back in the Instuif .

Mmm! - Room Eleven Mmm indeed, both at the rich jazzy voice of singer Janne Schra, and the four other talented musicians who provide the landscape against which it sounds so inviting. Room Eleven are pretty huge in Holland and elsewhere to judge by their extensive touring schedule..& it's easy to see why after listening to their second album - "Mmm Gumbo?". Sure, it might be too jazzy in parts for some tastes, although songs like 'Hey Hey Hey' are just downright excellent pop. But oh, how lovely it would be if they did. We booked one big success: Ladyhawke re-recorded her Paris is Burning-smash in French. Room Eleven - Mmm...Gumbo? (2008) Room Eleven is a Dutch band. Formed in 2001, it saw its origins when lead singer Janne Schra (born Janneke Maria Alie Schra) posted a note at Utrechts music College's message board seeking someone to write songs with. Arriën Molema responded, and they started writing music together. In August 2004 Tony Roe, Lucas Dols and Maarten Molema joined the group on the keys, double bass and the drums, respectively.
