Roommates – Winnifred 7" Ben Cook's a man that doesn't rest. In addition to his roles in Fucked Up, The Bitters and Young Governor he's also concocted this project with (you guessed it) his roommate Mark Fosco. The pair cranked out two sessions worth of tracks, the first which occupies the A side and the second naturally on the flip. He's churned through a handful of pseudonyms pushing southern California's noise and tape scene into strange territory. And although his ambient works were largely responsible for hypnogogic pop's stylesheet, this latest Condo Pets EP signals another new direction. Condo 's version of 80s texture feels remarkably sober compared to the heavy synth waves of the past year. Roommate is performing tonight (July 28th) at Quencher's and opening for Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen. The band recently released a great animated video for their track "August Song". The track comes from their new album Guilty Rainbow which was released by Antephonic earlier this year. The video was animated by the talented Jodie Mack .

Chicago via Brooklyn's Kent Lambert has been recording under the name Roommate for about a decade, but now has a set of collaborators playing along with his moody electronic compositions, giving some serious depth to his already strong songwriting. Despite the companionate band name, and the significance of the group on this record, the importance of isolation, unusual fragility, and unanswerable questions are the more vital, weighty issues at hand.
